What cover art did you dig this week?
I actually liked the art on the DC Halloween Special Anthology - among others.

Justice Society of America #10 has to be THE cover of the week.

JSA does have an amazing cover but my props for cover of the week has to go to the REAL superman's cover, Action Comics #858. Gary Frank's art on this cover looks a lot like Leinil Yu's work with the scratchy, rough vibe to it. It looks really great. You can't help but tell that he modeled his superman after Christopher Reeves. I really dig that.

Another vote for JSA. Though I do love Gary Frank. Everytime I saw that promo for Action Comics, I got a little excited for what was to come.

JSA takes the cake for being so epic... But it was a rather good week for covers anyways. A lot of the earlier ones were good, but in the end...
Crime Bible's cover now owns my soul.

Action Comics #858 just doesn't do it for me. On the other hand, the Crime Bible cover rocks. Also dug New X-men #43.

Siggggh.... I tried to just post one cover this week, but I can't do it. I'll stop at two, I promise.
Iron Man's a sexy beast when painted right.

I've got a different cover for that one. It's The Question holding a smoldering Crime Bible. Haven't found it on line yet.

Maybe that cover was made just for you Conor. Ever think of that?

That muffled sound you hear is definitely NOT John Van Fleet tied up in my closet.

For a non-fanboy, you do end up with a lot of variant covers, Conor. ;)
I liked the non-Ross cover for JSA 10.

But if you knew there was a different cover a few copies down from the top, one you may have seen online and liked better....what would you do?

I just went through my stack. I have the same Crime Bible cover as Conor.
Not nearly as cool as the regular one.

There is a gorilla on the cover to Coutndown to Mystery #2. Worth mentioning for being awesome.

That's the same one I have. It's pretty too, but I was sad when I saw the stack since I'd already seen the scissors one.

DC needs to start posting their variants online like Marvel. I'm really curious to see what I missed out on.

i like Gary Frank for the most part but the way he draws eyes (and teeth/smiles) sometimes freaks me out

Funny you should say that because I have a similar hangup with Chaykin. Not that you are promoting Chaykin but whenever teeth are mentioned, Chaykin springs to mind.
Both Frank and Chaykin capture great expression though. Love that scene with Clark and Perry, as Superman squints at the mustard stain on his tie.
Luthor (not Lex) had the right of it when he says Frank can draw an exciting ice cube.

Gary Frank has a very similar style to Lenil Yu in my opinion, a bit cleaner, but still similar

Little bit. But I think you might hear that about any artists with a sketchy style these days. Someone said the same thing about Skottie Young to me recently.
Yu has so made that style his "thing", as it were.
Gary Frank's work in Action Comics (and the WW Annual/Countdown backup) strikes me as so different from his work on Hulk, Squadron Supreme or Supergirl.

I think it's not the sketchy style as much as they both look like the art went from penciler to colorist with no inker (I love it btw)

I've been a Frank fan since his Marvel UK days, and there is something different in this current style. I think he's been heavily influenced by Quitely's All Star Superman.
