Sarah Lane may be a crackerjack reporter, but she's more of a crackhead when it comes to audio recording. That's why this week's Gazette has no sound. And that would be fine if Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton worked at Rev3HQ, but the footage Sarah shot is mainly of Dave Randolph moving heavy equipment. Luckily, Martin, while leering wantonly through the Venetian blinds at Sarah while she flipped out in the edit room trying to salvage her piece, noticed his little friend's distress and swooped in to save the day. Or at the very least, get to spend a few minutes with her in a tiny, enclosed, dark room.

This is like watching Rev3 with DVD commentary. This is the first time I heard Sarah drop the F bomb on camera (or on mic) that I can remember. I love this episode though.

haha this actually turned out great, having no audio turned out to be the best thing for the ep hearing the commentary and sounds like Marty really didn't know he was being recorded.

BTW whoever whines about Sarah dopping the F-bomb for future topics/posts ..shut it as it was funny since it was a genuine reaction.

Wow. That turned out to be an amazing episode. I was worried at first, I'll admit...but wow. Pure comedy gold.

I'm not whining, I was just saying I dont ever remember hearing her curse like that before. I'm totally ok with it. It makes her seem more...normal in a way. I also want to know more about the quote "That isn't the first time you said don't get any in my hair" that marty said. Hilarious stuff.

That was pretty dam funny. Sarah getting wolf whistled at by truckers and also Sarah and Marty taking the piss out of prager's shoes and Dave Randolph in general.

Why no HD? My feed is only for that so I had to go to the site to get it. :(

Wow that episode was surprisingly good. It was extremely funny yet still provided all the information that I tune into the Revision3 Gazette for.

Best episode yet! Commentary makes it feel so personal :)
PS: somethign I just noticed: why on earth do the smilies have a white matte instead of a gray one?

I thought I would suprise everyone and say this was one of the best yet. I guess I'm not the only one!

Plus I'm going to post this to my "hot girls rubbing snot on things" forum.

Nah was not referring to you why I said FUTURE POSTS (check tekzilla forums to see what I mean);)

Hi, short time viewer, first time threader.

Just wanted to say that I thought Revision3 - Episode 8 - The Phantom Audio was hysterical.

I also want to add that it’s actually kind of a cool concept for the Gazette. Instead of recording audio on the day you shoot something, you can add the audio later like DVD Director’s Commentary and comment (meaning make smart @$$ remarks) about what you shoot.

Ya know, not many people can pull off looking good with a camera merely inches from your face. Sarah did a damn fine job pulling that off in this episode.

Am I the only one who thinks the office building they are in is in a totally crappy neighborhood?

that was great. i was totally surprised that i was digging it within the first 2 minutes of the episode, im glad that u released this instead of not releasing anything. martin sargent was a great person to do the commentary with.

LOL! That peek-a-boo nose scene is sooo gonna be a viral animated gif.
You guys had everyone in my living room laughing it up, and they didn't even know who you were at the time!
But they do now :-)

I agree with vahnx when he said it was 10x better than fruit club.
Props to idea of voicing over the dead audio. Do it again in the future sometime!
IMHO, This has been the best gazette bit.

Sarah rocks :D

how about some interviews with employees?

questions like:

how did you get where you are today?

where did you go to school? major?

what kind of hobbies do you have?

favorites(anything)?

...anyways, just some thoughts.
hope to see something like this one day.

This episode actually turned out to be quite grand.

Martin should do some co-hosting from now on.

It takes two talented people to comment on soundless video and make it this engaging. I think the two best lines were 'That's not the first time you asked me not to get it in your hair" and "Well Jesus you released that fruit council thing, this couldn't be any worse". Also "Here Heather, I got you this table", haha. I feel bad for Dave Randolph

See this is the kind of stuff that revision 3 needs to focus on. Being natural is what sells a show and its the magical touch that gave life to TechTV.

Shows like Diggnation and Infected are extremely entertaining because we want to see the reactions and commentary that spontaneously pop up in a conversation.

Keep posting material like this and Revision3 will sky rocket.

That episode was definitely the best gazette by far. Maybe you and Martin should keep this whole commentary concept going or maybe make it a once a month episode. It worked really well and had some incredibly funny moments.

I'm glad the sound was dead on that one, it looked like the episode would have been pretty bland otherwise

Am I the only one who thinks the office building they are in is in a totally crappy neighborhood?

I would love to know how many square feet of space they rent and how much power they use? Those requirements may tell why they are in that area. Ceiling height also plays into their needs.

I bet the company is paying 1/3 of what they would be paying if they were in a "nice" area.

Martin: "Well Jesus, you released that fruit counsel thing..." That made me laugh out loud (note while at the office watching and not working)

Sarah and Martin played well off each other.

I'm not a big Martin S. Fan, but him as a sidekick would be funnier them him as a star.

This wasn't my favorite episode, but it sure wasn't my least favorite.

Please give Martin Sargent Warnings for ANY and ALL show he's on, Pwease.

Are you insinuating that we're in a *ahem* *ahem* part of town??! :)

-chuckles-

An *ahem* *ahem* part of town?? what the hell is that. The bad part, it looks pretty much like my area and I live in a really nice area.

Though I must say I did love this episode; I think you should go back to each episode and do a commentary on them as well. It was suprisingly funny and though I'm sure another walk around the "dog patch" would have been really informative I'm sort of glad you didn't capture audio on this.

Don't feel bad though Sarah, I'm about to graduate with my degree in radio and television and I've forgotten to turn on the audio for a RADIO AD!!!! How stupid I felt that day. But since no one wants to come help you with the gazette ill gladly fly out to San Fran and help you tape. No I'm serious I will, I don't care if it is across the country.

I didn't know what expensive living was until I had to travel to California. Using government per diem you get regularly 110 bucks for food and lodging. In San Francisco it's $232/day. What the heck? And interest only morgages? No thanks...

I guess it would be worse off if I go to Europe.

Good episode, I really think Martin and Sarah make a good combo. Perhaps this should be explored further in future R3G episodes or future shows.

Just a thought.

-chuckles-

I have only flown out of your town, once, BUT if you listen to Sarah's show there are comments about the quality of the neighborhood. Now I know that in many cities you can get cheaper rent if you are willing to be at the edge of the nice area. You just have to be willing to walk around broken beer bottles and the like.

People seem to be far more interested in improvised, genuine, everyday chit chat than, semi-rehearsed, edited bs. That is it certainly seems to be a normal conversation taking place, but ive been wrong before at first glance.

Sow more of these please!

Good episode, I was just wondering how exactly she lost the sound. Is the sound a separate file? I'm not too much of an A/V expert.

Accident or just GENIUS idea for a VERY entertaining episode? Whichever, it was GREAT! No offense intended to Sarah but Martin's contribution (besides just leering through the glass) really added some HILLARIOUS commentary! I especially liked the artistic experiment with the hide and seek Sarah did with the camera - there are SO many great screen wallpapers that could be made from the different expressions! LOL!:D

GREAT JOB - As USUAL!

so i just watched this episode,(again) and i really can't imagine the episode with the real sound. If there wasn't the commentary i dont think it be anywhere close to as funny as this was.
