While officially only the Soviets had killer satelites, ( http://www.tldm.org/News4/satellite.htm ) the U.S. now has a policy to put military assets in space: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6063926.stm as the only way to protect itself.

makings of a cool movie, perhaps just a comic?
Anyone hear of any other developments along the same lines that could be shoe horned into a story?

That is probably the coolest thing I've ever read.Not really a death star, but definately a device to poke out the eyes of people looking over your fence. I wonder if China will be so keen to use it now that North Korea is being an asshole neighbour.

It'd be better to use for heating foods and the like.

and perhaps this is what prompted the new american position.
