Big deal, I suspect the likelyhood of a rechargeable battery having a problem is just about the same as any other part of the controller not functioning correctly. What's the life on a NiMH battery anyways, about 1000 charges? The only real downside I see to this is that you can't just swap out packs durring marathon gaming sessions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Edit*
And if the estimates I pulled out of my ass are anywhere close to being correct that's:
30hrs playtime per charge X 1000 charges in life span = 30,000hrs/1250 days/3.42 years of continuous non-stop play.
I see absolutely nothing here to complain about.

I'm no PS3 fan, but that blog entry (that's what it looks like) is crap. They make this big to do about loosing connectivity to the game pad, then later admit that standby mode will keep the thing connected. It would likely always be in standby mode unless unplugged. Batteries... oh, you mean it's going to be like all the other batteries out there? yeah, that's horrible.... why couldn't they simply power the thing with a quantum singularity... duh....

This is for you, mister (and yes, I know it's not what you were talking about--but it's close):
(2:50pm PST) Remote Play
Harrison then picked up a PSP and wirelessly ran the Casino Royale trailer on the handheld system. Streaming the media on PSP can now be done in your living room but Harrison said that it will soon be possible from any hotspot in the world. Streaming your PS3 content on the PSP anywhere certainly opens some amazing possibilities.

Hopefully Sony makes the USB ports for the PS3 better than the ones that they put into the PS2, because mine got totally f'd when I was going back and forth with my flash drive trying to get the Independence exploit right. Luckily I don't use the keyboard or whatever else they let you use for the PS2 since PS2 online blows, and I can install anything onto my memory card or hard drive via ftp.

Why not? You have to throw away the $100 electric toothbrush when the battery dies. When you lose money on the shaver, you make up for it in the $18 pack of blades.
As for the Wii... that's like choosing a skateboard for your main mode of transportation. Sure, you can have some fun with it and get around on it, but you still need a car so you can drive across town, transport groceries, etc.
Are we doing The Dromies yet?!?
Because the award for most retarded metaphor just got announced for comparing the difference in a video game system to the difference between a car and a skateboard!
Everybody cheer! Yeah!!! That was ridiculous!
You're better off comparing different kinds of cars friends because it's just a TAD more accurate...
I'm going to get as many of these damn systems as I can afford. They are all pretty different and do things differently with different advantages. I think the community appeal of the XBox is what's going to get me to play it a lot. The control and wider range of family friendly applications and games (not to mention Mario, Zelda and Metroid) are what's going to get me to get a Wii and I KNOW I'm going to want a PS3 for stuff like GTA4 and a God of War game.
But comparing a game system to a skateboard? Whaaaat!?! Who was trying to sound smart with that comparison? It makes no sense! Let's compare a truck to a car to a suburban and maybe we'll be getting somewhere.
I'm excited for the next argument when we discuss the similar metaphor: a pee shooter vs oranges for opening cans. Which is better?
Okay. That's all. Go back to arguing. I think Laura pre-reserved a Wii for my birthday and Christmas present. How awesome is that? I guess she doesn't wanna see me again... Now how can I get an XBox 360 for Christmas...?

The automobile to get you across town or go for a relaxing drive and the skateboard to do grinds, handstands and ollies with in the driveway for kicks.
I get it - so you're saying the ps3 going to be utilitarian and relaxing and the wii's going to be fun?

Okay, I don't care if this was intentional or not, but it's LOSING, not LOOSING. Loosing is not a word, and if it is, it's not that word. Every time I see someone type "we're gonna loose" I wanna smash their heads in with a ****ing brick. I'm not just picking on Satori, cuz he's not the first to do it, but goddamnit, **** whining about the PS3! People need to pay more attention when typing.

I will have to be sold on Zelda, however. I haven't been eager to play any Zelda game since it left the 2D world. It just doesn't feel like the same game to me. That could be simply because I don't have ovaries, though.
Here's another Dromie nomination- "Gayest Post of the Year".

Wii, Target Audience: Casual Gamers
Nintendo has combined getting up and playing with playing with video games. This alone will grab the attention of people not used to the sometimes complex controls of video games. Most of us who play video games have had experience at an early age and are used to controllers. If you've ever seen an unexperienced gamer play a racing game they try to turn the controller in order to steer. By making practical movements ways to play the game, Nintendo gets more people interested in thier games.
PS3, Target Audience: Super Fans or Hardcore Gamers
$600, F*** That.

And with that, I think we can all certainly agree. However much people want to ***** about the three consoles, we haven't had such a robust selection across the board in a long time. If ever. All three makers are in the game and on top of their game -- even Nintendo (which has been lacking since the N64 or earlier).
Nintendo is smart in that they haven't priced themselves out of the game so a ton of people will put out the call for one of the other consoles AND a wii. Far more than will put out for both a 360 and a PS3. So they could end up with the biggest long term market share.
I will have to be sold on Zelda, however. I haven't been eager to play any Zelda game since it left the 2D world. It just doesn't feel like the same game to me. That could be simply because I don't have ovaries, though.

My grandparents made the mistake of getting zelda 64 for me at Christmas. I locked myself in the gameroom and didn't leave it for a week. By the time I knew what was going on it was New Years and my grandparents had left without me knowing.

I don't understand the point of fighting over the three consoles. Can't people just get what they want and be happy with that? Same with Mac vs. PC, politics, religion -- nothing will ever get resolved, no one will change their mind.
