Did we have a thread like this in the old forums? Let me know.
Right now I'm listening to the Xanadu soundtrack. Bad, cheesy, spandex, Gene Kelly and disco...just wrong, but I loved this movie in the 80's and still do.
Also, Grease 2. I actually like it better than the first...that's just wrong.

"I'm Alive! And the world shines for me today!"
I agree.
The movie however, cannot be justified. When I catch it on cable I just giggle.
Also, everyone hails Diana Ross in Lady Sings the Blues, but I prefer her over-the-top diva turn in Mahogany. (Feeling nostalgic this afternoon).

Hudson Hawk.
"Would you like to swing on a star <BOOOOM> ... carry moon beams home in a jar <BANNGGG!>"
Cheesey, terrible plot saved by wonderful overacting by a great ensemble cast including David Caruso in drag. What's not to like?

Hudson Hawk and the Guyver are so geek movies.
Guilty pleasure movie or us anyways should be something your average stupid would love like Armageddon, You Got Served, or some girly ass movie.
My guilty pleasure movie? Care Bears the Movie.

Solarbabies. When I was a kid I was just enraptured by that movie. Now everyone says I like it for the kitsch value. Is it that hard to believe in a journey of self discovery?

hahahah, I just realised that I said b-side... Guess I'm busted and you can tell I have the vinyl... hahahaha... I'm was a bit of an ELO fan back then. One of the few bands to use synths at the time other than Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk.
On the movie front I kind of like Musicals... I swear I'm straight... Where's Calvinslug to back me up when I need him. ;)

Two words,
POINT BREAK!
Everything from a classic Keanu Reeves performance to Gary Bucy's maniacal laugh--this film's got it all.I can't watch that movie without sqirming in pain at the final scene. I saw it while I was still on crutches, wearing a back brace, about 6 weeks after breaking my pelvis in three places (and crushing some verts) in a small parachuting "mishap". Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

I really enjoy the preposterous sword swinger "The Man in the Iron mask." You have an American, a Brit and an Irishman playing three of the four musketteers, a butt-shot of Gerard Depardu and Leonardo Dicaprio playing twins. I really love this movie.

The Mighty Ducks Trilogy
Shit Yeah, The Mighty Ducks. I'll watch 1, 2, or 3 no problem. Hell, I'll watch the animated series while I'm at it.
I'm going to say United 93 as well. I don't even know why I like it, it makes me cry (even after 3 viewings), but I will still watch it. (This is not to say I think its a bad film, its not, but who in their right mind would enjoy this film)
Hmm...Oh, I just bought Coach: Season 1. I think I'm the only person who has. Its just funny to me, and i use to watch it all the time when it was in syndication durring my middle school years.

Thank you superdeformed and makeshift. I ****ing LOVED the Care Bears, so if no one's around, and they are on, I'll watch.
And yes, I used to love the Ernest movies, too.
Also add to this list the first Winnie the Pooh movie (the one based on the book) and The Wizard. I know the Wizard is part of geek culture now, but I honestly loved this movie and NOT for the video games (I had a childhood crush on that redhead girl in the movie).

As with the old action movie thread you ****ers are mixing in cult classics and geek movies in with "Guilty pleasure" movies.
Point Break, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man are classic 90's action movies and any red-blooded american male should not consider a guilty pleasure.
Low-budget Cheesy Sci-fi movie are the bread and butter of the geek and in no way a guilty pleasure since it's a thing of pride!
Guilty pleasure movies depend on who you are.
Examples: If you are..
An average male: Bridges of Madison County, FRied Green Tomatoes, or any romantic comedy staring a cast member of Friends.
An average female: Conan the Barbarian, any movie that degrades women as objects, and Porn.
An average geek: Any of the new Star Wars movies, any Micheal Bay movie, any movie generally hated with passion by geeks.

Well, my obvious choices should be the following:
Showgirls
Mommie Dearest
Xanadu
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls
....However, none of those should really count as "Guilty Pleasures" because I enjoy watching them BECAUSE they are so bad. There is no end to the laughs those movies bring on an un-intentional basis ( Seriously, the levels of how bad Showgirls actually is never ceases to amaze me. It should almost be studied ) A TRUE Guilty Pleasure in my book is a movie that you know is bad, but you love it anyways for real. You don't just watch it with drunk friends and mock it, but alone with a bowl of popcorn. Here is my list of true Guilty Pleasures:
Fright Night
The Craft
Ever After
A Nightmare on Elm St. 2 ( You know...they gay one )
Bram Stoker's Dracula ( yes, I have a Vampire fetish )
as well as certain Star Trek and Star Wars sequels merely because they are part of the series. In other words, I know I would know better otherwise, but I can't help it.

Xanadu IS Really bad. But god damn if some of those ELO songs aren't catchy. Seriously, if you aren't a lover of un-intentional camp and 70's cheese...you may wanna stay away from the magic that is Xanadu.
.....but if you CAN make it through Xanadu, then check out The Apple: A musical extraveganza set in "the future" ( 1994 to be exact...a 1994 that looks a lot like 1979 ) with songs so bad you feel as if they were written on a napkin and never revised once. There's even a song called "Speed" that is exactly what you think it's about. Gawd, I love The Apple. If I were drunk/high, I'd pop it in right now. :)

I was out for pints on friday night with some friends. My friends ex-wife and I were talking about this thread and Xanadu, and we ended up singing the ELO/ONJ duet. Everyone was killing themselves laughing including us by the end of it. holy show tunes.

I'm glad that my thread creation created such a bonding moment between you and your wife...no wait, it's the magic of Xanadu!
Reading a description of it on imdb makes me suspect you are all extremely high on various chemical substances every time you watch it, though, because it just sounds amazingly bad. I mean, not kitchy bad either. Just... "I threw up watching Tom Cruise in Legend" bad.
But I'm sure I'll not be able to rest my mind until I actually watch the damn thing, now. Thanks, you damn asshats!
Dude, I was 10 when I fell in love with it. Now, it's just a matter of nostalgia and the soundtrack, which albeit a little dated, still holds up. For me it still is kitchy bad, but watching it for the first time as an adult....well, you've been warned.
