Few publishers out there are like Top Shelf Productions and this week iFanboy digs in to some of their favorites from this excellent indie publisher. Like Top Shelf, iFanboy are all over the map with cute animal books, a Transformers parody, a futuristic action thriller, and the return of Elvis!

Yeah, i totally dug this episode as well. I'm gonna go pick up a copy of The King this week, but this also inspired me to go research top shelf a little more and i'm thinking about ordering Elfworld and Super Spy as they look really interesting. Anyone read these?

God damn, why didn't I watch this sooner? Ron, I'm so glad you talked about Tales From The Farm. That is easily one of the best books I've read recently. It was just so personal to him. It was totally fun, but you get all of this emotion pouring out of it. Honestly, if I was going to cry reading a comic, this would be it. It's so heartfelt and fun. I loved it.

Super Spy is just awesome. A beautifully designed package all around. If you've read any of Matt Kindt's other stuff, like his Pistolwhip with Jason Hall, then you'll definitely like it. I don't know how to describe the writing, except that it's kinda like pulp storytelling lensed with a modern "indie comix" eye.

The King was one of my favorite reads of the past year, and I'm indebted to both Josh and ACBG for recommending it so highly.
I ordered Three Fingers the other day because of this episode. Thanks for the heads up guys, I really don't know how I missed that one!
On another note, when you three do shows like this and people joke about how you are "bastards" for making the buy more good books, does it really bother you?
I'm only asking because Ron brought it up, and I wasn't sure if he seriously meant it bothered you three.
I know I'm guilty of it, so I just wanted to ask.

Nah. I figure if people really were mad they wouldn't buy the books.

Ok.
You never know, so I just wanted to make sure that you guys weren't really offended or anything. Some people might not get that it's a joke.
I know I have loved pretty much everything I've picked up from your recommendations.

Okay so being caught up on the show is nice, fyi.
Let me first say that I love it when you guys go off the beaten bath and talk a little indy comics. The reason being is that I'm really heavy into mainstream books and I feel like I should be reading more non big 2 books. I'm reading: Invincible, Preacher, Exterminators, Fables, 100 Bullets, Y: the last man, Astro City, Top 10 and too many other books to go into because of this and other podcast suggestions. Now I'm entering into the world of Top Shelf with Three Fingers, Essex County Vol 1, and The King on my X-Mas Wish List over at Amazon. I just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to these books as being in the midwest here in Lincoln, it's not exactly what you would call comic book friendly and in the two store we do have in our state capital they are both understandably mainstream oriented. Thanks again guys and I can't wait to see what else you have in store for me, no pressure.

I really enjoyed this episode too.
I've put Tales from the Farm on my list to pick up today.
I'm newish to the comic world, and am really appreciating your reviews and recommendations.
I loved Phonogram for example and am currently making my way through
Fables (also in trades).
Thanks guys!
