Many people still don't know how to jailbreak their iPhone/pod, or don't know what to do when there's problems.

Jailbreaking your iPhone/iPod Touch

Step 1: Open Safari. Go to www.jailbreakme.com and select install. One of two things will happen:

1. Safari will crash
2. iPod will restart

If Safari crashes, restart it and try again. If the iPod restarts, slide to continue and you should see the installer icon. Use it to install apps and such.

Troubleshooting

Q: [App name] doesn't install!
A: That's because either the app doesn't work on your device yet, or your installer is screwing up. Try reinstalling BSD Subsystem or Installer. If that doesn't work, restore your iphone/pod and rejailbreak (this is the cureall for any problem.) Also, Customize, PERL environment, and anything that starts with "Mobile" probably won't work (On the ipod atleast)

Q: Installer.app doesn't open/device spazzing out/something really really really really bad happened!
A: Restore iPod software and rejailbreak. It'll fix anything.

Edit: There is no step 2.

I messed my touch up after doing one of the steps wrong. I'm glad they have the direct site jailbreak now.

Has anyone found a program that will access the iPod Touch's harddrive on a Windows machine?

Has anyone found a program that will access the iPod Touch's harddrive on a Windows machine? If its like other iPods, you need to change the way the iPod mounts via iTunes. It is buried in the settings and throws up a warning that it will mean you need to "eject" before you disconnect.

I've had an iPod Video prior to this purchase. This iPod has a flash based harddrive and does not allow you to access the harddrive so easily. And iBrickr 0.9 doesn't work on the 1.1.1 firmware either so, I'm kind of stuck.

I did this last week sometime.
I had a hacked 1.0.2, but decided to upgrade to 1.1.1.
The day after I heard about the Jailbreak site. It was all done in about 30 seconds.

Only problem I have is that I don't think that it's as stable as it was back in 1.0.2.

1.1.1

I believe. It is working great. Took about 30 seconds...and the summerboard application didn't require any extra IPHUC modifications. That is alot of progress in only a month I would say. The developers have great heads on their shoulders.

They also had time to practice on the iPhone which is essentially the same thing.

ahhh. Good point. Still. Who could argue. Im really impressed. installer.app seems as if apple made it. It works/is integrated so well.
