And so the question stands. What is your favorite video game of all time?
For me it would definitely have to be Sonic and Knuckles linked up with Sonic 3. I put in sooooo many hours on those games and they were and still are truly a blast. Excellent music, game play, graphics, you name it! :D (Even though my first REAL BIG TIME gaming experience was with the original Sonic 1, I still enjoyed the latter games as well. I would die to come home from pre-school, kindergarten, etc. just to play Sonic. :D )

"Back in the day" - Ultima and Myst
Now - The Orange Box and soon to be Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare. The beta for xbox360 was insane and the demo for pc was just sick.
Throwback Favorite - No matter how many times I play it I still can't get enough of it. Final Fantasy VII

I'm going with Chrono Trigger also. Must have played through that game 20 times...it wins.
Runner ups are Super Mario Bros., Baldur's Gate 2, Morrowind, Halo, and most of the classics. Especially Paperboy.

Echo the Dolphin. Hands down. I've always thought that was the greatest game I've ever played. And the recent XBLA port was pretty good itself, although nothing beats pulling out the old Genesis.

Would have to be between Final Fantasy Tactics and Chrono Trigger... These are the 2 games I can pick up anytime and still have a blast. Replaying these every few years is so nostalgic and still an utterly engaging experience.

I have a lot of favorites, but one I just love to hook up the system and play is Goldeneye. I just like how that game feels. Perfect Dark too. Made by the same people, it had to be as good.
I don't think a first person shooter has been made as good for the past ten years. Not even HALO and I just wanted to love that game too.
Other favorites are any Final Fantasy game. I still will hook up my NES to play FF1. And many Mario games.

YES, the "Ecco The Dolphin" series was and still is INCREDIBLE! I have 1 and 2 on my Genesis, The remake on my Dreamcast, and Jr., 1, and 2 on my PSP. Could you imagine what it would look like on a next-gen console in 1080p!? I really hope they come out with a new Ecco. Great music, gam eplay and the levels were just so beautiful, creative, and overall awesome! Ecco 2: The Tides of Time was my favorite in the series. :D Those games rocked! :D

Oh yes! I haven't played those in years! I didn't like the last one (Stranger or something like that.) but all the ones with Abe in them were great! It'd be awesome to see those on XBLA.

Stranger's Wrath wasn't bad - great game for that type (action/adventure/shooting - with living animal ammo!), in fact.
I was thinking more of the Abe adventures however. I haven't played the first one in a while but from what I remember it was the hardest and when it came out the graphics were really lovely for the time. All of them have this great, goofy sense of humor that I adore.

Oh man I'm just picturing like a next-gen Ecco the Dolphin game and my mind was just blown by the prospect. As long as they would have the excellent gameplay of the originals, it could be an amazing game. Unfortunately, I don't see it getting made, as Ecco has always been a sort of underground kind of game.

This is a tough one. I've always been MUCH more oriented towards computer gaming than standalone systems. The one game that, for me, has stood the test of time is Diablo II. I still play it about an hour a day. It would be easy for me to pick it.
However, I think back to the old days when I was a young teen and PC computers were still shipping with hard drives that were measured in megs, not gigs. There was a game called Stonekeep that I was simply addicted to. So, for pure nostalgia, I'll have to go with that game... but as far as sheer addiction and replay value, Diablo II.
For purposes of not totally dating myself, I didn't even consider the text based games on Commodore 64, written in basic, that I would type out and program, character for character, from magazines when I was in 2nd grade.

Embrace and cherish these gaming moments, my friend. For that is what makes us old-school gamers mighty.
We remember finishing the PIRATE'S COVE text adventure on the Commodfore Vic 20.
We remember having our mind's blown by LAST NINJA and TURRICAN 2 on the C-64.
We remember IT CAME FROM THE DESERT and THE SECRET OF MONKEY ISLAND on the Commodore Amiga.
We remember putting our money into the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES arcade machine after school.
STREETFIGHTER 2 on the Super Nintendo was a life-changing experience.
Like Jeff stated in ep 33, we have been there at every evolutionary step of home video gaming. And as such our opinions must be respected.

It's wierd but, in reguards to myself and PC gaming, my experience was in...I guess phases. Because in my first several computers were far enough apart that I owned them long after they became obsolete for gaming purposes.
I'd get a new PC, play it for like 3 years, and then go 3 years unable to play the new games coming out, before I(or I should say, my parents) got another one.
And in each of this phases, my gaming was completely dominated by a particular gaming company. Which is to say, like 75% of the games that I played and enjoyed, came from one company.
With the first computer I got, it was Sierra. Games like the King's Quest series were almost all I played on my first computer. I think I got all the way to King's Quest 4 before I couldn't get my computer to run them anymore.
With my second computer, it was all about Origin. The Ultima and Wing Commander series. And to a lesser extent, Lucasarts. TIE Fighter and Dark Forces were probably the only thing that got me away from Origin's games.
When my third computer came around, I couldn't get enough of anything Bioware made. Fallouts, Baldur's Gates, Planescape: Torment. Those games, and then the Thief series by Looking Glass. Those were the games of that machine.
By the time my forth machine came around, it was all Valve and Blizzard.

I have played so many games, it is almost impossible to choose. Thinking about it, I was struck by just how few of them are console games, though I started playing on Pong when I was to young to know what it was. Now, here I am playing games like Supreme Commander and Halo 3.
Anyway, some favorites.
Atari 2600 - Combat, Asteroids (I still remember "flipping" the score on it)
Apple IIc - Castle Smurfenstein
AppleIIgs - Ultima IV, EOS (Earth Orbit Station), Bards Tale, Wasteland, Leisure Suit Larry
PC (Older) - (Short List) Warcraft II, Quake AvP II, Command & Conquer, Starcraft, Diablo, Masters of Orion II, Masters of Magic, Alpha Centauri
PC (Current) - Galactic Civilization II, World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2142, Supreme Commander, Sim City 4
Playstation 2 - Madden NFL, Tekken
XBox - Halo, The Suffering
XBox 360 - Halo 3, Gears of War, Oblivion, Bioshock, Guitar Hero II
Damn, I never realized just how much lunch money went to feed this particular addition. Glad I never started smoking, I might have needed to turn to crime to make ends meet. :D
