Has anyone else had problems running Revision 3 shows on their xbox 360 through Media Center (I use Vista Ultimate). I've been using this method for months now, download Diggnation, Systm, Totally Rad Show, Tekzilla, and Rev3 Gazette. I guess about 2 weeks ago there seemed to be a overall change to the way shows were encoded (I think it started with TRS Episode 30). Anyone else have this problem or does Rev3 know about it?

Ditto!!! It has to be the way they are encoded.

I am having the same issues here. I believe it is the encoding. It is not all Rev3 content though. I still get iFanboy fine and PixelPerfect. The shows I am having trouble with are Diggnation, Totally Rad Show, Tekzilla, GigaOm and Systm. I guess I am a real Rev3 junky and my jones is starting to really burn. The 360 will freak out even if I try and watch the episodes through TvTonic.

I am replying again because I still can't watch any shows through the Xbox 360. I tried again on Friday to download and watch Tekzilla and TRS, but no go.
The shows download just fine and can be watched on my PC using either WMP or Media Center, but when I go to watch them through my Xbox 360 I still get video errors. I understand that I could just watch these shows on my PC but I don't want to - I like watching them on my TV. I watch other shows like Cranky Geeks and DLTV just fine through my Xbox 360.
I'm using Windows Vista and I don't get the screen capture preview icons for the Rev3 shows that I used to get either, they only show up as WMV now, and it also takes along time to delete the shows.
Hopefully someone from Revision3 will see this thread and work on a fix for this problem since I'm sure that we are not the only five people that watch the shows through the Xbox 360.

Just to add to the thread. You can play them using the media blade on the 360 using media sharing. They just don't play using the 360 as a windows media center extender. What sucks about this is I don't like the way skipping works under the media blade and the stretching is much better when using the media center.
FYI - Using Vista Ultimate.

The XBOX 360 file sharing stuff has never worked right. I think MS wants to make it hard as possible to watch stuff that you didn't purchase one XBL. When I save H.264 files USB thumbdrive and deliver the files to the XBOX 360 using that, it works perfectly.
Maybe I should try the WMV files...

What I do is download the shows (Quicktime Large versions) on to my thumb drive and plug that in to my 360. They play fine that way. I don't think they will stream though.
I used to stream the WMV's, but the HD's look too nice to pass up.

I'm having the same problem, started with Diggnation 121, Totally Rad Show 31, and Tekzilla 5. Vista doesn't create a preview thumbnail of the videos when you using Windows Explorer to view the directory they're in and they don't stream to 360.
Other .WMVs from other websites, new stuff as of yesterday streams just fine.
It's not microsoft wanting to "make it hard as possible to watch stuff that you didn't purchase one XBL" that's just nonsense.
Revision3 has done something with how they're encoding the videos that isn't making them fully compatible with Windows and 360.

I'm sure that the problem doesn't lie with MS wanting to make it hard to watch internet content - why would they care about vidcasts that they don't offer? Besides, the MS Media Center and XBL Marketplace are two completely different things! I think they embrace using the 360 with Media Center - it's just another reason to own a 360!
This still has to be an encoding issue on Rev3's side because I went ahead and downloaded the latest episode of Tekzilla, which still didn't show up on the 360 with Medica Center until I re-encoded it using Roxio 10. Thirty minutes later, I was watching it on the 360 using Media Center! Now, that re-encoding process worked but I don't feel like doing that for every episode of vidcasts that I want to watch, and I shouldn't have to (just because I don't own an Apple). Also, this week I watched the latest episodes of Cranky Geeks and DLTV just fine.
Can someone who works on Rev3's shows please respond to our posts and tell us what in the world is going on. Maybe Revision3 is making it hard to watch vidcasts using MS products ...

i've also noticed that skipping around in the WMV versions in WMP takes forever for the video to restart all of a sudden. They've definitely changed something about the encoding of the WMV files. And it's all ****ed up

Would that be so bad? Seriously, the have been tweaking the encoding for many of the formats so it broke some formats (like the Apple handheld compatibility thing). I say wait for a reply from Rev3 about it. They might retroactively replace the file or just make sure future ones work.

Except for the fact that this problem has existed for weeks now and they haven't said anything and this is the second or third post about it.

Any updates from the revision3 staff? If the new encoders are causing problems, why not go back to the old ones that worked perfectly?

Just registered to chime in on this as well. I watch Revision3 shows on an original Xbox modded with XBMC, and am also experiencing this. Shows from the past couple of weeks simply don't load. This saddens me, because I don't really have a more convenient way to watch these and my alternative is to just stop and watch nothing but Ziff Davis shows.
I really hope this can be corrected.

I too use a XBMC -- but I subscribe to the Xvid-Large feed... which three weeks ago worked fine... on all shows.
Now nothing new for the past two weeks are working on the XBMC.
Revision3 what did you do? And when is this going to be fixed? It's apparently something that is effecting everyone.
One thing that is weird is that if you use 'XBMC Fox' which sends video links directly to the XBMC it works just fine... so, at least for me it's not the encoding, but something with the feeds themselves.

I'm gonna chime in as well in order for this to be bumped back up to the top.
I too have been having problems with the Large WMV videos from Rev3. I subscribe to the Sytm, Tekzilla, and PixelPefect feeds and since, well the start of this thread, I been having problems watching the videos on my PC AND streaming to them my Xbox360 via Media Player 11. When watching them on my PC, WMP freezes up for about 20 secs before responding and it also can't seem to create a thumbnail for my library. As for my Xbox360, I get some connection error when I try to open the file.
I hope someone at Rev3 sees this thread and makes some sort of effort to resolve it.
PS... and yes I could transfer the .mov files to a thumb drive or start streaming the Xvid versions, but I have my whole collection of Rev3 videos in WMV so I'd rather stick with that for consistency's sake.

The latest episode of tekzilla #11 works fine, maybe the fixed the problem now.

I have gave up on them getting the encoding right for wmv. With the latest 360 dashboard update the xvid now works perfectly and you can use wmp11 to stream it.

Sorry for bumping this back up but I have been having this problem for a while now. I am just using Media Center and the shows will play. But if I skip back or forward it stops playing and some times will start if you wait awhile. Does anyone have a fix for this? I don't think its my Media Center because I have played other WMVs from other podcasts and they work fine.
