Based on the question asked to the guys in the latest episode, let's make a list of the classic games that we think people should play at some point.

So just post three or more games that you think gamers who were not born back in the day should play to gain an appreciation of the classics.

The list so far based on what the guys have said already
Super Mario Bros.
Halo
King's Quest/Space Quest
Pac-Man
Street Fighter 2
Double Dragon
Donkey Kong
Galaga
Old Atari Games

So let me start off by adding my three to their list.

Tie Fighter (PC)
Such a classic game. Branching missions, with some great flight mechanics, a classic of early '90s games.

Doom 1 or 2 (PC)
What more needs to be said. Kids should be introduced to the game series that made the FPS what it is today.

The Legend of Zelda (NES)
We all know and love it, see where so many game ideas were born. This is the game that started something amazing. All people should play through this classic.

"Mega Man 2" / "Rockman 2" (NES) - The absolute top of platformers, to me. The levels, bosses, abilities, music... Everything about MM2 is great.

I have to add Contra. It is a great game to introduce shooting games. It is so campy yet still fun.

You can get it on XBL now. It may have online play. Not sure.

EDIT: Also, I think Super Contra is available too. Or soon to be at least.

It was pretty tough to narrow it down to only 3.....

To previous posts, that elevator game was Elevator Action, I believe. That game was much fun. Also, I totally forgot about TMNT being two screen. Now that you reminded me, I only played it on the two screen machine. Funny thing is, it took your description of the tent and the odors uh smells of the County Fair to remind me. That was the only place I was able to find that game. Thank goodness for MAME. Good way to relive memories as well as catch up.

Speaking of Spy Hunter. Does anyone remember Bump n' Jump? I played that so long ago and can't get a working rom. I played that at a beach house near a house my family owned (and now I own) in Saratoga. I competed with one other player for weeks for the high score. Next to going to the track, that was much fun. It was like the Frogger story from "Seinfeld".

Jesus. This is like the 20th time we've made this exact list on these boards. I think there's 3 of them on the freakin front page still.

Doesn't anyone know how to use Search?

That reminds me, I downloaded a classic games torrent in the recent past. I must install some of those.
