Right, as mentioned by Dan in Vomitsation what was your favourite action figure when you were a kid?
mine would have to be He-Man or Hotrod.
hotrod is still my fav transformer!! :)
edit: I had Rodimus Prime pics attached

I had the original GI-Joe. My brother and I used to take the Joes and pillage my sisters Barbie's Dream house. Apparently, Barbie preferred a man in uniform. Perhaps, Ken did as well.

GI Joe-Flint and Lady Jaye were the main ones but Scarlett and Snake-Eyes a close second. I also had Barbies and a Jem doll that would sometimes get into the mix. But the boys in the neighborhood (there were no girls) were not keen on having them be added in. Oh, and Star Wars, Princess Leia. And Transformers and GoBots. (yep, the kid gets his collecting tendencies from me).
I really wasn't into playing with the guy ones unless they were working with my main character, whatever the girl one was. Unfortunately, given the times, that really limited me to who I could play.
Now, it's my WonderWoman and Buffy figurines that are my favorite. They sit on my desk at work.

Hmm, well right now I have the awesome Jack Bauer figure starring at me on my desk but when I was a kid my favorite series was probably Z-Bots from Micro Machines, don't know if anyone else knows them. They were little robot figures and there were two factions, the good Z-bots and the evil Voids. Here's one of them as an example, the evil Void Blayde.

There were a bunch of different sets and I played with them to death. Also had the Power of the Force figures and Beast Wars.

On topic, I really didn't have one specific favorite. I loved my Ninja Turtles for sure. But I had a really cool Godzilla as well.

I'd have to go with my Ninja Turtles off hand. I realy liked my mutator ones (they looked like regular/on all fours/ turtles and they'd transform into the tmnt) and my movie ones that had a rubbery "real" skin.

I remember asking my parents every year for every birthday and Christmas for a Ninja Turtles action figure and never getting one. I am still a bit bitter about it haha. Maybe this year...
I distinctly remember carrying an action figure of a cat with me everywhere, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was.
I always thought it was Battle Cat, but I remember it being purple.
It’s not Panthor either because I remember it having stripes (but I very well could be remembering that part wrong.)
Is there some other purple striped cat it could be?
If not, it was Panthor and my memories are broken…

OH MY GOSH!!! And I thought I was the ONLY ONE who knew about and played with Z-Bots. I had sooooo many of the good and bad guys. That was one of the few collections that I took extra good care of as a kid. Loved em'! :D

Its a toss up between GI Joe, Star Wars and Transformers.
I would have to say that Transformers ruled them all. You not only could use them as Action Figures and do the Pew Pew, But you could also turn them into cars and Vroom Vroom.

They've been mentioned but mine were;
He-Man (though I preferred to play with Battle Cat/Cringer)
Transformers
Ninja Turtles
GI Joe
and Barbie. Hey, I am a girl. :o
Battle Cat was my favourite though. :)

I don't know what it is with my and smaller figures but I thought of another series that I loved as a kid, Battle Beasts. They were a semi-spin off series from Transformers and had a symbol system that gave them a rock/paper/scissors vibe except it was water/fire/wood. Anyway here's a picture of one of them, Squirrel.

OMFG I totally remember those! That's pretty rad. I don't quite remember which one(s) I had. The owl or one of the reptiles look familiar though.
Anyone remember Rock Lords? I had this guy and loved it.

I'm pretty much on the same page as everybody else here-
GI Joe
Thundercats
Star Wars
But being the Marvel Zombie I am these were some of my favorites as a kid. http://www.toymania.com/archives/secretwars/swfigs.shtml
Wolvie was EPIC!!http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee289/Slayton22/swwolv1.jpg
I also had a zip line Spiderman that I loved. I used to set him up from the top of the piano and have him slide down to the floor to attack Doc Oc. Ahh, memories.
This one was also a fav,

My parents were too tight-ass to afford Transformers. Mostly I was stuck with 'Machine Men', which were a ghetto Australian version of Transformers.
But for one very special birthday they bought me the die-cast iron Lion Voltron, which at the time was near $100. Exactly like this:
http://www.action-figure.com/~nomad/images/06/02/vol/vol064.jpg
Although I don't recall getting the sword with it way back when.
I'm pretty sure I still have a couple of the lions somewhere laying around, no doubt in very poor condition. No effing clue where the rest of it went.

Boba Fett. No ****ing contest.
I also had the G.I. Joe that you sent away for that you picked the abilities for and they sent you a helmeted figure with the action card on the back printed up with the abilities you chose.
Boss.

Did you get the one with the launchable rocket, before a few half-wit kids swallowed the rocket and caused a discontinuation of that figure.
Trust the dumb kids (whom we all knew when we were young) to ruin it for everyone else.

We didn't have a Luke figure, so we used Leia Hoth figure as Luke. We also had a storm trooper and a Rancor. I also had this cool action figure from the cartoon She-Ra. It was this lizard guy that would shoot water out of his mouth when you pressed his head down.

Ah, "Star Wars" that first wave of Star Wars action figures for Kenner. My brother got Darth Vader and I got C3P0.
I should have figure something was up when my brother got Spock and I got Scotty,

The first gen StarWars figures #1! Luke was the first one and Darth Vader. With the lightsabers that slid out of their arms. Awesome. LOL
I also played with the small GIJoe's before they got too crazy. I remember the first set of them actually looked like army guys. And they had the little rectangular foot stands. Cool stuff.
Again, gen one, Transformers! When they actually had metal and spring loaded rockets and you had to put the decals on yourself! God toys were awesome back then.

No action figures for me. Growing up in a place with 2 TV stations (until I was a teen) limits the exposure to mass marketing :)
So for me it was some hotwheels cars (OK, a lot of cars - not all of them hotwheels), and that was about it ...
But I did get into model kits at an early age until I was in my teens.
I swear that when I have kids they are going to get the toys I never had when I was growing up. They wont get to play with them mind you ... that will be my job.

My absolute favorite Sar Wars guy was the speeder bike trooper. He had the second coolest helmet besides Boba Fett of course.
Holy Crap!!! Anyone remember watching Force Five as a kid? I've just been turned onto the "Soul of Chogokin" series of figurines these past few months. They are the coolest things I've seen in ages.
So far I have collected:
Mazinger
Getter Dragon and
Getter Poseidon

I just want to thank you guys for making me realize I was a really spoiled little bastard. I was an only child for years, in not only my family, but my extended family as well.
I had pretty much every single He-Man, Thundercat, and GI Joe out there. I also was bribed everytime I went to the grocery store with my Mom with a Hot Wheels purchase.
I hate the kid-me.

I sanded one down too. I think it was probably one of the cars that had been in too many "demolition derbys". I don't think I did the Sharpie part, just the cool steel (whatever the metal really was) car.

I used to live next door to the woman that created Barbie. She died just after I met her.
I only ever had one action figger and that was Matt trakker from Mask. It took me years to get my mother to buy it for me. I still have him, but don't know if I have the car.

Um lets see.....Ninja Turtles, Gi Joe, Transformers, and a few random toys. I usually figured out ways to put them together.....you've never had fun till you had leonard and donatello loaded up in the back of Optium Prime driving to the technadrome.
Though i did get into X-men toys and actually have a mostly mint condition Prof X, in his wheelchair, with weapons and everything....its really kick ass.

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one that ever had those!!! I would play with them while taking a bath and the Fire/Wood/Water stickers wore off...That's so cool that you had them to. I think I was fortunate as a kid b/c I had my stuff and the hand me downs of older brothers.
I had:
M.A.S.K.-still have some
Starwars-still have AT-AT + others
GI Joe
TMNT
Transformers and Gobots
Heman
Vultron
Silverhawks
Thundercats
The Dino Riders - Freakin' Rocked
I think my coolest toys were these cavemen wars type toys...There were Dinosaur Skeletons ridden by cavemen and each of the Dinosaurs launched its tail or something like that...It was cool because if you got the whole series, all of them came together to make a type of ultimate weapon. I remember one sides was a huge ship...
