Took me about 3 hours to download this game but i felt it was worth it.

Graphics were stunning and the combat was very fun. The first time I rolled in the water and came up with wet clothes I damn near shouted with joy. Finally a game actually paid attention to this...very cool. The enemy AI was very good. They made you move around alot and it was a descent challenge.

I wish the demo was a little longer but hey its a demo.

I give it a solid 8/10

I will probably wait for a couple of reviews regarding the length of the game and overall enjoyment factor. But based on the demo I will probably buy this game.

Lol, no offense but that's one of the last things that would make me jump for joy. Not getting a PS3 (ever probably) but it's nice to hear that it's not all about the graphics (enemy AI is right up there with level design and controls). Frankly, I hated HL2 because it felt like a movie to me. The pretty water didn't take the bad taste out of my mouth. Love the story but when I seem to play the game just for the story (Bioshock kind of treads this line) I'd rather go to wikipedia or something to read it. Or what until the eventual book.

Off to a tangent. How good is the AI? Is it predictable (it can still be good and predictable IMO) or random/learning? Considering the processor(s), I would want a "learning" enemy myself (if the AI can predict your moves after a while, it would make games more interesting).

My first thought is... Why is this taking so damn long to download! Second thought... I'll get back to you. It just finished downloading.

Edit: Okay, finished the demo and wished it were a bit longer! My thoughts:

First off, the game looks amazing. It's definitely one of the best looking games for the PS3. It's nice to see green as opposed to brown.

The gameplay itself is pretty nice. Nothing awe inspiring, but it's far from bad. The cover method is implemented pretty well. Roll to a coverable place, and you'll automatically get into cover. Haven't had any real problems with that. The platforming parts feel great, though the six-axis for the balancing seems a bit weird. Do you have to stop to rebalance yourself or something? The gun combat is okay. Wish there was an auto-lock or an aim system while your covered. When you have 5 men shooting at you, it sucks being out in the open while you're aiming.

The AI is pretty good. They don't just hide behind one cover and pop out of the exact same place every time. They move around from cover to cover. If they're getting shot at, they'll hide. Shotgunners will come at you if they can. I don't think they "learn," but they move around enough to provide somewhat of a challenge. You can't always just aim your gun at where they once were and expect to shoot them right when they pop out. You also have to constantly move around too. Once a batch of enemies are disposed of, new ones can come from the side or behind.

I'd give it somewhere between an 8 and 9. Not an AAA title (at least, based of the demo), but it's fun. It's definitely not as ground breaking as the other games coming out this month, but it's definitely a great addition to the PS3 lineup. I really like the strong cinematic feel to it.

i've now played it a few more times and i have to say there are some great things about this game and a few things that began to get under my skin.

i agree with the above post that the balance parts are unpolished and pretty much feel like an attempt to throw the six axis into the game for no good reason.

the cover system is great but i wish it would have some sort of gears of war type dash system as well. i found myself failing to get to cover quick enough at time.

the AI i must say is great. i ramped up the difficulty and found that the enemies seemed to be more aggressive about flushing you out of your cover. they would push in closer to you a lot faster and throw grenades at you if they couldn't get to you. as mentioned above the enemies dont always pop out of the same spot of cover all the time which makes it more challenging to camp them with your sights while they duck behind something.

i still think its a potential buy but i must wait for more info.

and as for the wet clothes. i still think that was pretty sweet. i guess im easily amused. :D

I haven't played it much yet (see related posting of mine) but I have to say I'm excited. This game + ratchet and clank + pixar in highdef + close outs on 60gb PS3 were what caused me to finally get a PS3

From out of nowhere, this game is a serious contender to me for my favorite game this year.

I've put in a few hours and, damn is it good. I think this is the first game I've played all year that's kept me smiling the whole time I'm playing (saving Mario Galaxy for Christmas, to be clear).

The characters are great, and the interaction in the dialogue is awesome. They really have about the best chemistry and comic timing I've seen in a game. It's very cinematic. And, while they're not as visually impressive as the models in the cutscenes of Heavenly Sword, it kind of helps. These models all look realistic enough, without crashing in the uncanny valley. The voice acting is phenomenal, too (Firefly fans will get a seriously strong Mal vibe from the main character). I love all the things your character mutters under his breath.

There are also a number of touches where you see Naughty Dog's pedigree peeking through. I'll never forget the first time I got to the level in Crash Bandicoot where the camera spins around and you're running toward the screen with a boulder chasing you, Indiana Jones style. There's a part very early in the game that hearkens back to that--but with an amazing next-gen upgrade.

So far, wildly impressed.

I just rented the game and am already on chapter 15....i cant put it down

Its funny you mention Mal from Firefly....I got the same exact vibe from Drake....And also the dude who did the score for Firefly does the score for this game....It's just too bad that Nathan Fillion isn't actually voicing the game but the guy the got is great....I don't think i will buy this game for the sake that i think i have almost beaten it already and i still have 7 days left on my rental but it is definatly a GREAT game....Really shows what the PS3 can do.

I got done playing the Uncharted Demo, and it took me a minute to collect my thought on it, but I think the reason I was so excited for it was because it seemed like the only thing short of MGS4 that would make having spent the money on a PS3 worth it. As far as the shooting goes, there are about 10 games this year that utterly destroy uncharted when it comes to how much fun it is to fight the enemies. As far as the graphics go, it would have been atop my list of "Green" pallet games...had it not been for Crysis coming out. The graphics are great, and it's very nice to see green instead of brown, but next to Crysis, meh. Overall, I'd give it the 85/100 that EGM gave it (according to metacritic) but when it's competing for my money with titles such as COD4, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Crysis, Unreal Tournament III, Rock Band, Guitar Hero III and Assassins Creed (to name a few) there is no chance in hell I'd buy it instead of the alternatives. I think it's going to do pretty well this Christmas, because alot of people are going to be buying 400 dollar PS3's, and it's really the only "Exclusive" title at this point (360 owners would tell you that they don't want it. And I don't really blame them).

If you have a PS3 and you don't have a 360 or a Wii, then this is absolutely the game to pick up this holiday season. It's a no brainer if you don't have a 360. Otherwise? Ehhh....

I HAVE NOW BEAT UNCHARTED NO SPOILERS AHEAD FEEL FREE TO READ ON

In general i would say this is an amazing game. The graphics in the demo are pretty toned down compared to some of the locations in this game. The water effect while they don't look true to life are absolutely beautiful. The combat in the demo is pretty much what you can expect for alot of the game accept it gets more challenging. I dont usually finish games the day i rent them (in fact i never have before) but this game just did it for me. The story is pretty cool and there are some amazing moments. The puzzles are simple for the most part and the jumping game-play is about the same though it does get mighty tricky in some parts. One part in particular almost cost me a new controller. This game is well acted and action packed. I would not buy this game because there is not much replay value. But if i were able to change a recent purchase i made i defiantly would have forked over 60 bucks for this instead of buying Assassins Creed.

If you are already playing this and love what's happened so far. Just wait until a few chapters before the end. WOW !!!

I REALLY liked this one. It's easy to say graphics don't affect gameplay, but all of the plants and wet looking surfaces and birds and stuff really made it emersive.

BUT it's way too short to buy, which I did :( - it only took like 8-9 hours to get through in two sittings. Also, I got stuck in the environment a couple times and it froze on me twice. Once, the whole world disappeared and I was left running around a grey limbo-type expanse.

It's really getting annoying that all these holiday games are so buggy. It's like the equivalent of releasing a movie with the boom mic in the shot or something.
