One of my favorite podcasts Sam and Jim go to Hollywood (http://www.samandjimgotohollywood.com) has a couple recent episodes talking about what led up to the whole writers strike and what they hope to accomplish contract wise when its over.
I found it interesting because these are just a couple middle class guys who got started writing in Hollywood a few years ago. Start all the way at the beginning if you want to follow their journey pretty much from the start.
I'm sure I've mentioned this show before either on the boards or in the TRS chat, but its one of those gems I wish others knew about.
