View Full Version : Game to check out - The Witcher

I thought I'd use my first post here as an opportunity to suggest everyone take a gander at a very sweet RPG that totally slid under my radar--The Witcher.
In this month of November (aka the Hell-of-a-Thousand-Released-Games), The Witcher is one that anyone who is a fan of the single character RPG--ala Oblivion, Two Worlds, or Gothic 3--should really check out. I had never even heard of the game until it released last week, but I have to say that it's the best representative of that genre I've played yet.
Be warned, it's a very mature game (though the US version is *considerably* toned down from the International version), but if you want a beautiful RPG with an addictive storyline that will keep you playing 12 solid hours a day for a week--this is not to be missed.
Just wanted to make sure you folks don't miss out like I almost did.
Oh...and hello, fellow TRS fans!

Thanks Sean! My friend is buying an Xbox 360 this weekend (finally!) and he has been talking about games for days now and mentioned the Witcher. I couldn't offer any input because it slid under my radar as well, but I'll pass on your recommendation (then maybe I can borrow it :) )
*Edit - I should clarify, this is a PC game, not for console. Xbox was the topic that got us talking about games, sorry for the confusion :P*

I really liked Gothic 1 and 2 and Oblivion. My only worry is it will not run well on my PC. .. still may need to pick this up.

The name rings a bell but I don't think I've really looked into this one much, if at all. Apparently it uses Bioware's Aurora Engine :D RPG too, so I'm instantly interested. Cheers for the heads up, fatesdefiance.
I haven't really looked into it, the only thing I heard about it was that it sucked. And I don't have time to check it out, with all the FOR SURE better games.

I've just started playing it, and I have to say it's pretty sweet. I would say it's a must for every RPG-fan. Despite what Yathzee said about it...:)

Well, he clearly don't like RPGs in the first place, and I'm not saying that The Witcher is for everyone.
It's very mature and complex, but it offers a great strory, totally unique world, and lots of lots of gameplay. And with some nice visuals too... ;)
