In the weird food combination thread, I realsied that a lot of combination peopel find weird are actually cultural/regional, and popula in other parts of the world.

This is a mutliple choice poll - you can choose more than one option.

Personally, I am all about salt and vinegar (malt vinegar), but at home (Australia) I gotta have gravy with my chips (yes, Aussies call french fries "chips", just like the English) or add something called "chicken salt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_salt)" (the single most amazing condiment to ever be teamed with french fries - I gotta remember to pick some up next time I go back).

You haven't had fries until you've had the garlic fries at Candlelite Chicago.

End of discussion.

Oh, a funny story, when I was in Galway, we went to some wacky Irish fast food joint, and I ordered "curly fries."

Well, apparently they don't speak American there, because they gave me "curry fries."

French fries smothered in curry sauce... how is this Irish!?

The best fries in the world come from where they were invented: Belgium. They must be fried in two stages in some sort of animal fat. They go perfectly with some Belgian beer.

it all depends, I voted for...

Naked, English, American, Heartburn, Aussie, Emeril and Other for cheesefries with ranch dressing.

Well I voted for American(since i am and it's traditional around here), Aussie, Emeril, Heartburn and Other.

Like the guy above, I like mine with Ranch salad dressing, though Cardini's Ceasar Dressing is good too.

Now, I am an Aussie living in the US.
My wife, she likes french fries with ketchup. doesn't do much for me. I had thought about adding Ranch Dressing as a dip for french fries to my list. That was something I picked up in SoCal ... is that just a Cali thing or is it popular in other parts of the US as well?

Um, I like to make my own because they're better than fast food, and ranch dressing is pretty good on them.

Oh man, this thread got me hungry!

My personal favorite:

I bake some McCain SuperFries, pour them into a plastic bag, throw in a ton of different spices (oregano, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne etc. etc.), and eat!

It's quite healthy in moderation and absolutely delicious!

I always thought 'Canadian Style' = Poutine (Gravy and Cheese)?

I think it depends what the fries are with. If it's fish and chips, you got to go english with salt and malt vinegar.

Burger or dog, ketchup

alone- could be just

or as poutine, gravy, cheese curd..yum
