Do you know anything about the DC Universe?
Because, there is a reason that the company had to have the Crisis. They had different parallel Earths and each one had it's own batch of heroes. Over time they started to intermingle, and it got really confusing trying to figure out what Superman that they're writing.

So they came up with the Crisis Event. It combined all of the different worlds into one streamlined universe.

All that negative stuff aside, I picked it up before I knew any of that. I really liked the story. It's a crazy, wild ride. As long as you know that going it, You'll enjoy the heck out of it!

Anytime.
Do me a favor and keep us posted, ok?

It's a dense read, so if you have any questions, don't be shy about asking. You have enough of us Comic fans on these forums to help you out.

Funny thing is, I realized how appropriate it is that you're reading that now. The current big Event DC is planning has a butt load of call-backs to this Crisis book.

...But of course things don't always work out how we want them to, so DC did Infinite Crisis 20 years later to "fix" some of the things that happened because of the choices made in CoIE.

Now I have a question: after reading Infinite Crisis, should I read 52 before or after reading some of the One Year Later titles like Superman: Up, Up, and Away? Thanks!

I just picked up Superman For All Seasons and it's pretty good. But I think i'm gonna try this Crisis Title. I like the DC characters but never got into the stories other than Superman and Batman.

Well the One Year Later all came out at the same time as 52. So there really isn't a prerequisite for either.

That being said, I was just getting back into comics around the time 52 was half way over, so I didn’t read it until after the series was done.
There are a little bit of call backs to it in the One Year Later titles, so I’d go with 52 first. But that’s just me.

I just finished For All Seasons. That was a great read.

What did you think of the art work? I think i'm being to picky I guess its kinda like my issue with the batman trades I read. The art work I thought was crap but I picked them up because of the story. I think Batman and Superman I will read no matter what.

I love the art, but I'm a pretty big Tim Sale fan.
Since you're talking about Batman trades, are you referring to The Long Halloween? Because he drew that one as well.
His art has a very trippy, throwback feel.
Plus, his stuffs everywhere because of Heroes.

No wasn't talking about Long halloween. I'm thinking about getting that one. The art isn't bad to me just seems out dated. I guess that's the feel he is going for. I'll have to do some searching and get some pictures posted.

The "older" look was intentional. They wanted to make the book feel like a more classic/timeless book.

Just a warning, Long Halloween has a similar style, albeit tweaked a little bit.

Thanks,
I finished reading it and loved it!
It was a bit confusing with so many characters and the complicated polt but once I got into it I was fine.
I was thinking of reading the follow up 'infinite crisis.' Checking the library though they have two books infinite crisis and superman: infinte crisis are these the same?
Anyway I put a hold on both as well as Identity crisis.

Thanks again for your help guys!

Thanks again for your help guys!Infinite Crisis is a much more recent book, and it too is excellent. Superman: Infinite Crisis is not the same thing. Infinite Crisis was originall published in monthly issues, so Superman: Infinite Crisis would just be a collection of Superman issues that came out at the same time, and tied into it a bit. I think there are a bunch of characters with books like that, but Infinite Crisis itself is all you'll need.

Edit: Oh, and I should mention that Identity Crisis isn't related to Infinite Crisis or Crisis on Infinite Earths, but it is a very well-written book.

Eso already answered your other questions, so I'll avoid those, but I'm glad to hear you liked it!

Both Infinite and Identity are really good reads.
Infinite is considered a direct sequel to the original Crisis that you just finished, so that is a definite good choice.
