Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney series

Ace is a good series then? Good. I've seen the first one in resale stores. I'll check it out.

Thanks Siraim. I've picked up Zelda but got side tracked on Puzzle Quest.

I want to hear everyones opinions on what the best of the best are. :)

PQ on a hacked PSP is a nice portable game too. :) No UMD to worry about.. super fast load times...i would have gotten it for my DS, but I bought it at an airport and had little choice.. I was bored..

I picked up Puzzle quest before I left for Cali. Not really my cup of tea. I really need to stop buying games. even though I did just pick up GH3 and CoD4 and I'll most likely get Assassins Creed this week as well. le sigh (as my friend would say).

I am also very curious as to which titles are the best and why? I'll be grabbing a DS this holiday season and need to start an admirable collection.

Yeah, Puzzle Quest was fun for a while but gets kinda old for longer periods of time.

Any total dissapointments? I know I wasn't impressed w/ Children of Mana. Really slow... made it to around lvl 25. Once it came out of the DS it started collecting dust.

Anyone find a game that's a "can't put down"-er?

I loved the first Ace Attorney though never beat that fifth chapter. I don't know why, but it wasn't as fun or intriguing as the earlier chapters.

Animal Crossing for the DS was so addictive, I loved that game... until I managed to break the addiction and now weeds are everywhere.

The Mario and Luigi game was awesome too... and Castlevania... Final Fantasy 3... Hotel Dusk... I love my DS.

Why I mentioned those 3 games, others I love on DS like the obvious Mario Karts and Mario games and castlevania POR,Metroids and Zeldas but Phoenix wright series is something that is no pick up and play since as a defense attorney (using Japanese style in Anime taste) it truly makes you think and is so self rewarding and the characters are so fun and the stories so well written now in the Ace Attorney series the first 3 are out in the US and it is best to play them in order and the first game has 5 cases while the other 2 released in the US have 4 cases,it's now regarded as one of Capcoms best series.(look out for Apollo Justice:Ace Attorney 5 next year and look out for Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles for DS next year for 20$,it's like the AA series but you play a detective instead)

Hotel Dusk is an amazing title that is a point and click adventure game but done in the style of film noir and you hold the DS like a book is uses 3D visuals but the characters are done in a black and white hand 2D drawn style when you come across clue and such you physically take the stylus and write in a notebook on the DS screen.
Well written and deep characters and story.

Final Fantasy 3 is the version that was never released in the US until last year only with Updated 3D visuals and full CGI opening.

I could name so many more but the DS has so many great games and sleeper hits it's just too hard to name them all haha

Perfect. hat's what I'm talkin about. thanks!!!

I'll pick up the first Ace soon. I'm excited to play a story driven game that really gets hold of you.

...Anyone have any input on the medical emergency room game? (can't think of the title).
Thanks again:D

Trauma Center.. great game on the DS.. the stylus controls work perfectly and allow you to really get a feel for the fine cuts/slices you need to make on your patients. Very cool game.. it's definitely a game you can pick up for a little while and then put down, which is the mark of a good DS game.. (This game, along with Cooking Mama, made the leap to the Wii with mixed results..)

OK. This is great. I'm going to stick with Metroid, Zelda and New SMB (for the quicky fix). I'll get Phoenix Wright this week for a big flight coming up.

Once done with at least one I'll look for Hotel Dusk.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm spouting off a bunch of games but I want to make sure I give each one the attention it deserves.

I've always loved really deep and involving games but sometimes you need the casual pick up game. What games do you like when you've got spare moments?

EBA! EBA! EBA!

Elite Beat Agents is one of those DS games I keep going back to, even if all I have is a few minutes.

Picross DS is interesting, and well worth the budget price.

Of course New Super Mario Bros is the gold standard

As for the GBA, definitely scope Sigma Star Saga and Drill Dozer, and you can't go wrong with the remakes of FF IV and VI

Personally I'm still praying for Mother 3 or at least the rereleases of Mother 1&2, but its less likely as each year goes by.

DS Games

Animal Crossing: Wild World - It's a better version of the Gamecube game. I has online and the touch interface is perfect for this game.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - A Castlevania game in the mold of Symphony of the Night. There are many of these games on the GBA/DS, this is probably the best.

Clubhouse Games - A lot of good card and board games, a couple of duds as well. But there is online!

Mario Kart DS - The best racer on the system, and online.

Meteos - The best puzzler since Tetris Attack.

Metroid Prime: Hunters - Looks amazing, playing really well. Not the greatest game, but it does have online.

New Super Mario Bros. - Really fun, but a bit on the easy side.

Picross DS - I've been playing this game nonstop for about two months now. If you like logic puzzles or Sudoku, check this game out.

Tetris DS - It's Tetris and it's online.

Yoshi's Island DS - Basically a more of the same sequel to the SNES Yoshi's Island. But it's still great and has some decent challenge as well.

GBA games

Advance Wars 1 and 2 - Simply a great strategy game. (The DS version may be better, I have yet to play it)

Astro Boy: Omega Factor - A game made by Treasure (if you know who they are you'll know why I'm pointing them out). Basically the best straight action/brawler type game on the system.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - If you liked FFT on the PSone, check this out. It has a younger theme, but the gameplay is still great.

Fire Emblem/FE: Sacred Stones - I love love love these games except for the deaths. More turn based strategy, but I really enjoy them.

Golden Sun 1 and 2 - I'm not a big RPG guy, but I loved these games.

Gunstar Super Heroes - Another Treasure title. I liked Astro Boy more, but this is still a great game.

Metroid Zero Mission/Fusion - Metroid is my favorite game franchise. So I adore these games. Zero Mission is a remake of Samus' first game. Plus they've added to it as well. Fusion is a bit different than Super Metroid and Zero Mission, but it has it's strengths aswell. SA-X is panic inducing.

Ninja Five-O - Kind of a mix of Ninja Gaiden and Bionic Commando. A nice little known title that is a lot of fun.

Ultimate Card Games - A fantastic collection of Solitaire games and poker/blackjack. One of my most played games ever.

Wario Ware/Wario Ware Twisted - If you've never played these games before, check them out. A bunch of crazy, off the wall micro games. Fun and funny. I love them.

All of these suggestions are great. I fully agree with Elite Beat Agents, it's such a fun rhythm game, and I love watching the agents dance. Plus, it's something I can play for a song or two and then walk away. Phoenix Wright is also a fantastic series (although I'm struggling with a case right now and it is frustrating me), simple to pick up and play.

As for a DS game that you can't put down and feel overwhelmingly compelled to keep playing?.....FREAKING POKEMON diamond/pearl!!! I never played a Pokemon game before I bought Pearl (after my roommate bugged me for months) and I was totally surprised at how much fun it is. I really, truly, feel like I've got to catch them all...I think I need help.

I didn't really put pokemon in my list because it has been the same game for 10 years. The last one that really stood out for me was Silver/Gold. The GBA and DS games are still great and addictive and everything. But for someone who has put in crazy amounts of time into every iteration, the later ones don't really stand out in my mind.

That being said. Pokemon on DS is great. It has online fighting and trading. And if you haven't played a pokemon in years, check it out.

All I've bought so far is New Super Mario Bros. and the copy of Brain Age II that came with my DS. Super Mario was great until I beat it, and I'm not sure if I'll ever feel up to replaying it. Brain Age on the other hand is, still, a ton of fun.

i tried the whole supercard route and i suggest NOT getting a flashcard setup going. One thing I realized is there's a LOT of DS games out there and maybe 1 in 20 are worth your time. There's not really any hidden gems on the DS that you'll discover. I trashed my supercard and started concentrating on one game at a time, probably the best decision.

As kiddish the game may be, for some damn reason, Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is a fun game.
