ARTIST DANIEL ACUÑA HEADED TO MARVEL IN '08
Newsarama
Perhaps signaling the beginning of a new round of creators walking “across the aisle” between the two major publishers, Newsarama has learned Spanish artist Daniel Acuña, the now-formerly DC exclusive artist who has done the majority of his American work for the publisher, will be headed to Marvel Comics in 2008.
Just last week we reported long-time Marvel exclusive artist Mark Bagley would be making the opposite trip to DC next year.
Current plans call for Acuña’s first regular project at Marvel as an interiors penciler to be the upcoming new Eternals ongoing series by Daniel and Charles Knauf announced at this past year’s Comic-Con International.
Best known for this work on titles like Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters and his cover work, Acuña was slated to be the regular artist of DC’s The Flash along with the returning writer Mark Waid, but his run turned out to be abbreviated, perhaps due to his taking a Marvel assignment.
Acuña has only previously illustrated covers at Marvel. This will be his first interior work for the publisher.
Marvel declined to comment on this story.
