"An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he is an immortal who has walked the earth for 14,000 years. Acclaimed Sci-Fi writer Jerome Bixby conceived this story back in the early 1960's. It would come to be his last great work, finally completing it on his deathbed in April of 1998."

I watched it the other night. I enjoyed it(more than i thought) and thought it would be right up your ally. I'd love to hear Alex's, Jeff's and Dan's thoughts on it(and anyone here who has seen it).

Thanks,
Jeremy

Ok, so I need a little more guidance...It sounds like its A Beautiful Mind meets The Highlander...can you kinda describe the style or what it relates to so that I may get my interest peaked?

Ok, so I need a little more guidance...It sounds like its A Beautiful Mind meets The Highlander...can you kinda describe the style or what it relates to so that I may get my interest peaked? Some more information: "This heady dose of cerebral fantasy was scripted by the late Jerome Bixby, who wrote Fantastic Voyage, four classic Star Trek episodes and one unforgettable Twilight Zone episode (?It?s a Good Life?). Man From Earth?s plot concerns a farewell party for a college professor (CSI: Miami?s David Lee Smith) during which he reveals to his colleagues that he is an immortal who is more than 14,000 years old. The premise seems dubious, but it is skillfully carried off, with the film structured like a theater piece in which the small cast of characters probes all the historical, emotional and religious aspects of the notion of immortality.

Shelf Talk: The Man From Earth won?t appeal to sci-fi fans looking for action and adventure, but it should develop a following among those who like speculative fiction that?s strong on ideas. It deserves a strong push to the brainier fanboys, and supporting turns by William Katt (The Greatest American Hero) and Tony Todd (Candyman), plus the scripter?s Trek and Zone credentials, should help in that direction."

.. not so much A Beautiful Mind meets Highlander; it's pretty original, at least compared to anything I've ever been exposed to. Reminiscent of Rear Window, however, in the variation(or lack there of) in scenery(that's a good thing when done correctly).

btw I vote TRS review this as well. I have not seen it yet, but reading the IMDB reviews, I'm likely seeing this in the very near future.

You probably did, cause (for the most part) every single TorrentFreak article is frontpaged.
