zI hate the art, but don't mind the redesign. Which is okay, I'll just tear off the cover of every issue. =D

I want to clarify.
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww.
To the art style and the costume design. The current costume is perfect. Is his ward wearing bike shorts?

Admittedly, the change is unnecessary, but it could look worse. If they're going to do a redesign, I don't mind it being this one. Correction, Invincible's costume could be worse. The sidekicks is awful.

It could be worse I guess, but I think you are right, they are bike shorts!

I'm pretty sure he has already had a costume change once during the series.
Seems somewhat par for the course for Invincible. And big status quo changes are a Kirkman trademark.

I have a problem with the black eye-pieces, and the contrast of the black boots with the blue legs is just so stark and boring. Major step back. The old costume has a fresh look without being too out there. Simple and effective, but unique to that character. This could be anybody.
I don't really care that they change up the design. I don't even read the book currently. But if you're gonna change it, I think this the wrong way to go about it. Just my opinion.
He went through a costume change early on, right? He had a first costume, and then they adjusted it.

That's a hideous costume and... are they sure that's Jim Lee art? It doesn't look like it. Or, good... even.

Well I'm not a fan of the new suit, but who am I to complain? I still haven't read the series yet.
I just wanted to add that this is Jim Lee art. You never know how he's "interpreting the look".

It's hard to judge this because I want to see how Ryan Ottley draws him. If that looks good, than nothing else matters

I really don't see what all the fuss is about a costume has no bearing on the quality of a story

all i have to say is, i trust Robert Kirkman. He's taken the series trhough 50+ issues of awesomeness. So whatever this is it cant be that bad. The costume looks almost the same just a different color scheme. And you could totally see the sidekick coming a mile away with the increased aging of his half-brother.

I just don't understand where Lee was going with this. I love his art (sometimes), and this just doesn't fit with what he's done. Good or bad. I'll be interested to see how it looks in the book, because it's probably a lot different than this.

Yeah, the first thing I thought, though, was "Savage Dragon." Kirkman has said that's his favorite book and I remember when it relaunched at issue 75 and blew my mind. I'm way behind on Invincible trades but I'm happy to see that the series will continue to change and evolve as much as it has in the little bit that I have read and I have faith in Kirkman to make the changes worthwhile.

For me, part of the whole appeal of creator owned books are that they are not slaves to constantly returning the book to a status quo easily recognized by the masses.
I don't want Batman to have a different costume 10 years from now, but I'm fine with Kirkman changing Invincible's suit every week if it makes sense in the story!

Indeed.
I know if I was either an independant creator OR an actual superhero I'd change the costume up constantly.
Look at my icon. It changes weekly. Imagine that with a cape...

I don't particluarly care for the design, from what I've seen so far. But I trust Kirkman, so I look forward to see where this goes.

I don't really mind dropping the yellow in Invincible's costume. It does seem to make it more Nightwingish but I can deal. The bycicle shorts and the eyemask is a little 90s Robin isn't it?

I know that this thread has gone to the way side, but I was messing looking at Ryan Ottley's site tonight. Here's his version of the suit.
I like it. I think it signifies something happening in the book, say, a darker tone?

I still hate the purple kid, but I really like his Invincible costume. I definitely get the sense something darker's coming to the book.

Yeah, I don't much care for the kids costume either. It's a little too "Robin" and I also loathe the gloves, and boots. But whatever. This book is awesome, and probably is one of my all time favorite super-hero stories. Though I do wish we wouldn't have to suffer through times of 4+ months of NO issues, and then be deluged with one every other week. A little more consistency would be nice. And fewer filler issues. But he could show me Allen the alien in one panel per issue, and I'd be pretty happy.

I like the new invincible costume but c'mon? Omni-boy?! The purple bandit? The kid needs to take a timeout before he goes bigtime
