I am hoping someone here can help me out. I just bought a 50" Panasonic Viera. Finally 1080p for my PS3 but Ineed an HDMI cable. My question is if there is a performance difference between these Monster Cables starting at $157 (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10078609&catid=25326) these $65 Rocketfish cables (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10075017&catid=25326) and these $6 cables from Monoprice (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3992&seq=1&format=2). Also, is there a difference between HDMI and HDMI 1.3a?

Also, is there a difference between HDMI and HDMI 1.3a?HDMI is a digital standard. Fancy cables are only going to cost you more money. Provided they are manufactured correctly (read reviews online), the signal is still going to be transmitted at the same speed, and if a packet IS lost, it will be retransmitted with no degradation in performance.

Monoprice FTW! Their HDMI switches rock too if you run out of HDMI ports.

You only need to spend a lot of money if you have a need for a long run cable, because at distance it does matter. However for these short run (3m) cables a cheap monoprice or whatever you buy cable is more than enough to run the full bandwidth of HDMI 1.3 and provide great image quaility.
Now on the other hand, if you're running a cable 50 feet to a ceiling mounted projector (for example) I would suggest spening the money on a better quaility cable.
