I'm in Japan and I'm using the internet at the hotel. I did a speedtest because I've never had internet this fast.

It's roughly 57x the broadband at my home (which feels like dial-up). I feel like wrapping their 'internet tubes' in tin foil and bringing it home with me.

For your next trick, walk into a cellphone store and tell everyone just how how the iPhone stacks up against Japanese cellphones.
Japan has been getting all the cool technology ever since that whole Godzilla thing happened.

Japanese phones? Most of the ones I've seen are ugly and have 9 million buttons on them.
And before anyone cries fanboy I don't have and don't plan on buying an iPhone anytime soon. I'm just saying...

That's a trick question. Even against other normal phones, other than the multi-touch thing the iphone isn't as high-tech as it seems to be.
Their bidets are high-tech. They even have 'fake flushing' sounds and 'powerful deodorizers'. I'm not exactly sure what the fake flushing sounds are for.
I did see the humping dog usb stick in a store.

That's got to be faster than blinking speed. For supposedly being the best country in the world, the U.S. sucks at tech.

That's a pretty crazy fast connection. I've always thought my dad's line was amazing (he has 20mb up/20mb down fiber optic), but that line just blows it out of the water. And the crazy thing is that Tohoku University in Japan claims to have found a way to create a line capable of "hundreds of terabits per second."

It gets slightly faster during off peak, but I'm sorely going to miss the blinking-speed internet.

I live in Japan too, here's my speed-

I can get a bit over 5,000kb/s u/l during the afternoon.
Even though this is the second slowest connection our ISP offers, it's still 3X as fast as the best I can get in America.

The US is far behind in technology mainly because of funding, japan can rewire it's entire country for about $50 and change because they're so small. To start relaying IP backbones across the US would take far closer to a couple billion dollars just so some guy can come home and look at his porn a little quicker.
