All my posts flashed before my eyes.
This just makes me want to take advantage of the limited Paper in this paperless world.
College sucks ass. I went to the career counsellor today. "Well, there's an A category, a B category, a C category, and a D category. You're short in a few of them" "You forgot Advanced Placement Psychology, Information Processing, Tourism Studies, and Religious studies on that list" "Those don't count for anything. What you really need to get into Psychology, English, or Councelling is something in Drama or Music" "Advanced Psychology doesn't count towards getting into psychology?" "Not unless you also take musical theatre, or a second language". This system is a failure.

Who is lower on the hierarchal prejudice scale for comic fans; the speculator or the back-of-the-rack guy?
They may not always be the same.

I think it would be the Speculator.
I don't remember a rash of Back-O'-the-Rack guys ruining the market in the '90s.

What about the guys whom buy BOTH covers of the same book, rather the one they like most?

I don't think you can fault a guy for that, particularly if they dig an artist...not that I would know anyone like that...

Isn't that another form of Speculating?
Aren't they buying both in case one is worth something?

There's degrees to the speculation.

I'm just saying there are some guys who bag & board, some guys that buy all the variants and some guys who buy every #1.
We are a varied lot. I'd like to know where I fit in and who to look down upon.

My sarcasm meter is going off!!
But really I think it's not about obsessiveness. I bag and board. I could potentially see myself buying two issues if I was excited about both covers... that doesn't happen often.. but I could see it. It's more about buying comics with the intent of making money instead of buying them for content. I think the latter group kind of look down onthe former, because we feel they're not really appreciating it. I really don't think it's snobbery.

Them's fitin' words! ;)
I currently have like 300 bags and boards that I've accumulated and will get $20 on ebay for. If it takes a speculator to buy those boards from me, then I'm ok.

I don't see this being that big a problem. I've actually thought about doing this at my store, just to try out everything that comes out and see what i like, but i determined it would far too costly
