Does anybody knwo which would be better for easily transfering videos to a computer, editing, and uploading to YouTube? I assume it's the HDD one but I'm not entirely sure.

By HDD - I assume you mean hard disk. When I looked (about 18 months ago) the choice was JVC ... or crappy "record to removable flash storage designed for lonely15 wannabe youtuber". The JVC looked great in theory, but when you get into the store the color was off.
We went for a 3CCD Panasonic model that records in 16:9 ratio (note: not HD, but it is a widescreen aspect) onto MiniDV tape. Transferring these to a computer involves some software (duh), and either USB2.0 or IEEE1394 (Firewire). My laptop does not have firewire, but my desktop does - and it makes a huge difference in transfer speed.

Question about minidv can the tapes be reused/erased and recorded on again?

Question about minidv can the tapes be reused/erased and recorded on again?Absolutely. Completely reusable ... but if you are travelling, they are also readily available, which is an advatage over MiniDVD formats that are harder to obtain.
Another advantage is 60-80 min SP recording time (90-120min LP) with no compression, vs 30min (45-60min LP) on a MiniDVD.

I was looking at the prices and they aren't very expensive either. Can get 5 for like 10-15 bucks. Just need to buy a camera and some tapes hah. :D

NEVER BUY MINI-DVD or any DVD recorder. Mini-dv is great though. Ordvcam or dvcpro if you are trying to go pro. For transferring to computer, I only use firewire so I don't know if there is anything quicker. You might need a D/A (digital/analog converter) for transferring though.
And you guys joking about those rare betacams isn't all that funny, they are quite common and still used alot in prof circumstances. betaSp and digibeta tapes would probbly be the fastest moving tape format for a production house. All the shows I've worked on get transferred to a pile of different formats from the original, most commonly, betas. Alot of news programmes use beta still too.
