This guy came up with a great idea to curb a lot of the duplicate stories that are submitted to digg, check it out!

Good idea might give spammers a front row seat though, at least until they were voted down.

I like the idea too -- especially with the addition of digging the specific articles.

What a Brilliant idea! This should be put in digg! It should also be made so you can digg those alternative sources, like digg comments so you digg the individual story and choose which alternative sources are better.

Yeah, this is indeed brilliant. Also, because lately I've been hearing about top Digg users duping othe people's stories and then making the front page with them. This would help give the Digg users a better choice other than coming across a duped story and not knowing that it was, in fact, a dupe. GREAT CONCEPT!

hopefully this idea is taken into thought at digg

I think part of the problem is that there are 5-10 credible sources (not blogs), like cnn, msnbc, nytimes, that all report on the same thing. So not only does this cut down on duplicates, it is a good way to organize all of the information available.

If this could work, I think it's an amazing idea. Maybe even an automatic adding system for people who don't know it's a duplicate.

yeah this will help keep them from gaming it for sure
- there is a group of diggers that submit stories, and when they find that their story has already been submitted by someone else, they bury it to death and tell all their friends to bury it.. and then they resubmit the exact same story and get all their friends to digg it to the frontpage - it's a load of crap the way they are doing it and this duplicate stories/duplicate sources idea will definitely cut down on a lot of the gaming

I'm not reading this whole thread, so many be duplicating something already said, but I think a lot of people submit duplicate stories hoping that something about their magical submission will make theirs be the one that gets promoted.

That said, I like to idea of adding additional sources to a prior submission.

I threw another idea onto digg that I think would be cool to have in order to save a link without having to digg it.

oh HELL YEAH
I love this idea!

this would help speed up my computer lol.. cuz right now when ever I'm digging articles I want to read later on .. i just open them all in tabs and it takes me a few hours to go through them all.. I'll open them in the morning and I won't get to read them until late at night.. I use Firefox.. and I end up having like 20 or 30 or more tabs open for digg articles I want to go back and read

with the Save feature my Firefox won't hog all the resources anymore lol
