I just purchased 4 gigs of low-latency ram from Bestbuy.com for $120, a 320gb internal HD for $55 and Battlefield 2 for $10! It's incredible how cheap this stuff has become. Even I, a 13 year old, can remember a time when 64 mb of memory was a lot...
My dad is an expert on the history of computing and information, and his knowledge on this subject is really interesting...The history of information and how it works is a fascinating subject. It used to be information was a prized possession: only the wealthy had books and teachers. Then Gutenberg, with the first movable type printing press, made information much more available to common-folk, but it wasn't quite there yet. Then, with the occurance of radio, telegraph, the newspaper etc., information became available to everyone. Now, with the internet, most information has become almost valueless, because there is so much of it...
