Hey guys,
I've been thinking of picking up another marvel title for monthlies, but can't think of one. I'm already buying Cap, New Avengers, Powers, and Iron Fist, so what would you suggest? The only one I can't do is Criminal solely because my shop doesn't get it, and can't order more (for some strange reason), so I get it in trades. Any suggestions?

Does it have to be a Marvel Monthly?

i'd say astonishing x-men, but it's done soon, so go for Daredevil. it's my favorite marvel book

I second Daredevil.
Or...Mighty Avengers?* I think the two Avengers books are gonna be pretty tied together.
* Yeah, yeah, it's not a monthly at this point, but it will be...

I'm gonna cop out (again) and say Ultimate Spidey because it's every so ever so good...

I'm also going to say Daredevil. From the books you posted above, it seems like it would be a great fit. Very well written, looks real good, awesome book. Just ask Micheal Lark......

The only other Marvel book that I'm reading that you're not is Runaways. Whedon's run is not as good as BKV's, but still good.

Daredevil.
Cap, Daredevil, Runaways and Astonishing are the only really good mainstream Marvel monthlies.

I like Runaways a lot, but I wonder if that's a good one to jump onto now. We've got Whedon's run wrapping up soon, and then (I think) Terry Moore takes over, right? I like Terry Moore, but I wonder how that's gonna be...

Terry Moore takes over, right? I like Terry Moore, but I wonder how that's gonna be...The writing will most likely be awesome. The art an abomination against mankind.

Enough with the like/don't like Ramos thing. No one's changing their mind, and we're just spinning wheels.
I tried to think of another Marvel title you should be reading, but I can't seem to think of one.
Why is it just Marvel? Are you against DC/Vertigo?

thanks for the suggestions so far...
as for why I specified Marvel, it's really an OCD thing where I feel the need to buy an even number of DC/Vertigo/Wildstorm titles and Marvel/Icon/etc. titles. It really is nothing more than that (guess I shoulda said that earlier... my bad)

Captain America
New Avengers
Powers
Immortal Iron Fist
I think you're already there.

I think he means an even number of DC and Marvel...like, if he gets 5 DC books, he has to get 5 Marvel books.

Perhaps it's time to try to break that habit, and just buy books you really like. OR, screw up the whole thing by looking into some Image, Dark Horse or Oni books?

I highly recommend Avengers: The Initiative. It's always a fun read when I pick it up, and the only good The Initiative book in my opinion.
Seriously, fight the OCD thing because it will just get worse. Add INVINCIBLE if you aren't already reading it. Or be content to add a title in trades like Runaways.
But even if you're determined to stay with Marvel, just pick stuff up randomly to try it out. Who knows, you may be about to become a rabid Red Hulk fan.

I'm a big fan of randomly trying stuff out. Nothing wrong with test driving a #1 or the first part of a new storyline...

people seem to have such varied tastes when it comes to comics that these types of recommendations tend to be pretty hard.
For example, i noticed someone mentioned Avengers: The Initiative being one of their favorites. Now that's a book that never really clicked for me and it got dropped but obviously there's something there that that reader loves. That's why i think it's best for you to just do what's recommended above and randomly try stuff out.
Go ahead and pick up that issue of Moon Knight or She-Hulk, who knows you may love it, and who cares what everyone else thinks. As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters right?
I've been reading the new Thor book, mostly because I wanted to check out Coipel's art. But JMS has put a really interesting spin on the character, and the first couple of issues have been great!
It's quite an intimate little book, with lots of personal moments only briefly interupted by big cinematic action.
I never read Thor before, but the new book isn't bogged down by continuity so it's easy to follow. You should check it out!

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for a little guidance. Otherwise, you're just buying blind. It's just a matter of playing the odds. If 9 out of 10 people like a comic, then all other things being equal, it's probably a better purchase than a comic that only 1 out of 10 people like.

It seems that most of the people here, including me, think you can't go wrong with Daredevil but if you want to try something fun that most people don't read, try out Ms. Marvel. Brian Reed is a fantastic writer. Anyone else read Ms. Marvel?

I second those who've suggested Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-Man
