I'll take this: Eidos Announces Deus Ex 3 (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=16365)
I loved, loved, loved Bioshock. Kinda short, but it was simply amazing. I had a 2 speaker setup, but the visuals and especially the sounds was amazing. I left a light on in the room, so I wouldn't stain myself lol.

I've yet to play Deus Ex 2 and I couldn't really get into the first one either, much preferred System Shock 2, so I'm guessing Bioshock will be more my kind of game, but you never know.

Some people would argue "Bioshock" is just "System Shock 2" with another type of technology, watered down to work on a console. With that in mind, it doesn't sound like you should like it if you liked SS2.

Well, being slightly watered down still makes it another excellent example of it's genre.
I would think it odd if someone was like "Man, I LOVE this game, but this game that's almost just like it, I HATE because it's not EXACTLY like it!"
It's like saying a person can't like Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2.

This made me so sad yesterday.
Deus Ex is in my Top 10 fav. games of all time list, and I am 100% certain that this game is going to be an abomination just like Invisible War.

Is Invisible War really bad then? I have it for the original XBOX, but have yet to even put the disc in. Why does it suck?

I've only played Deus Ex 1, and I never played 2 because I heard it was bad. Hopefully 3 is good though. I'm never one to turn down good games.
(And am I the only one that pronounced it "Duce" Ex, as it two, for the longest time?)

It's the poster child for "consolizing" a great game series.

My heart says "Awesome, I loved the first", but my brain says "**** you guys, I played the second!"

One of the best games of all time. The second one, however, was just disappointing. It's alright, but it really doesn't live up to the first.

If you liked Bioshock, but with it had an inventory, and was cyberpunk instead of steampunk, then you'd love Deus Ex.

And the game gave you actual choices, instead of just pretending to have them.

But what if you wanted to be british?
Great comic on CAD about Mass Effect. Different game but funny when dealing with choices in games.

I loved the first Deus Ex. Never played the second one.. And I have to agree I also LOVED System Shock 2.
I really hope that Deus Ex 3 is a good game and not just pretty graphics and a brand name..

I have known about this announcement for a while... I've been waiting for any news on the game. It's killing me! Deus Ex is my favorite game of all time, I was very disappointed by Invisible War, they stripped it of all the complexity, RPG elements, and character development that made the first such a great game. By the end of the game I didn't care for any of the characters really. I only cared about JC and that was only because he was in the previous game. I am really excited for this game and hope it isn't another big let down... also looking forward to Warren Spector's upcoming title with John Woo I believe... it is called Ninja Gold last I heard.
Also, it feels great to finally post :D I've lurked for sooo long.

be prepared to be disappointed again. I'm sorry but unless this game goes PC-exclusive (Consolization of DE2 was the #1 cause of its crapiness, i'm sorry but its true. There are just some games that should not be on a console and when you have to change the game to meet the lower standards, thats when you get Invisible War) and Warren Spector somehow comes on board to do it, its not Deus Ex.
Not saying that I won't play it, hell I might play it and like it. But it won't be Deus Ex to me, just like how Fallout 3 will never be Fallout to me. Just an old fanboy stuck in his ways I guess :P heheh

I whole heartedly agree that Invisible War was consilized and bastardized. The first game was originally made for the PC and not limited to try and appeal to a wider audience, failing miserably. But the first was ported from PC to PS2 and was still a pretty good game, although the levels were a bit smaller and the loading times were horrendous. That said, this game is being done by a brand new dev team... none of them are from the original team that made the first game as far as I know. Besides that I have been wondering how they will pick up from where the last game left off story wise.

Just touching base on what I said about 'lowering the standards' i'm not trying to put PC on a pedestal or anything, thats not what i'm trying to get across at all. Take the inventory system from DE/SS2. Those were pretty in depth with being able to modify guns, hold onto your stuff for later (instead of just eating something as soon as you pick it up ALA Bioshock). The console can only do as much as the buttons on it will allow so yes its very limited in that way.
I'm glad that the franchise is getting some light shed on it, but I am just very much against taking another companies game and calling it your own (like whats happening to Fallout 3 and now this). If it was the original team... hell if it just had Warren Spector behind it, I would salut this game and hope for the best. But this isn't Deus Ex.
I just hope DE3 is more like the first than the second.... but I'm doubting it.
