1 - Big Brother is watching. Watch him back.
Paranoid? Well, look at what you are doing. If you are breaking the law
then it is likely that someone has noticed. Law enforcement and intelligence
agencies will monitor your activities, the main reason for this is to catch you
in the act. This evidence will be used against you in court. So the problem
remains, how do I know if I am being monitored?
First thing is first, chill. If you notice a tail or shadow the best defence
is not to react overtly, and for ****'s sake don't run in the other direction.
Keep a cool head and start looking at the details. You want to register as much
information in your head about the anomoly, therefore you can write it down
when you get a chance.
Important things to look at are; car registration details, try and remember
the make and model of the car as well as the licence plate. If you get the
plate number you can run a check on it later, and no I did not just tell
you to hack the D.M.V or VicRoads.
2 - What a nice guy. What a tremendsly nice guy
Someonce offering cards, codes or passwords? Who the **** are they and where
did they digg up this stuff. Don't trust strangers with candy, it is as simple
as that. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together know that card fraud -
aside from being seedy - will bring in the feebs like a magnet. If it looks
military, it is. If someone you have never met or seen before wants to meet
up and talk shop, stop and think. Trust your gut and listen to your friends.
3 - Short back and sides
The easiest way to spot a feeb or cop is to look at thier hair, face and
clothing. An plain clothed officer is usually from a uniformed station,
mainly they put on 'civies' to scope out the seen before the real brass
steps up. If someone lands at your payphones or netcafe and they look
like they have just steped out of 'JarHead' take note. Short back and sides
is usually acompained buy a clean shaven face, shirt tucked in with belt
and clean polished shoes. If you live in a poor area ask yourself this:
'can people around here afford that shit?'. Most law enforcement officers
have no clue when it comes to civilian life, even out of uniform they look
and act like a cop.
4 - Tap your own phone line.
Connecting modified device to the telecommunications network, without a
permit, is illegal. Don't **** with or damage telephone networks, you'll
end up doing 5 - 10 at club_fed. What you can do however is pick up the
digital multimeter that is sitting next to a hacked xbox, and measure line
voltages. The phone network is an electric circuit switched network, it's
as simple as that. Start using encryption and monitor your own connections
and network. Find yourself a copy of 'Silence on the wire - nostarch' to
learn about passive and indirect attacks.
5 - CCTV
With the advent of new anti-terror (I still can't get over the name) laws,
feebs and law enforcement may enter your home without your knowledge. Step One,
pick up bunnie's manual and build yourself an XBMC. Next you will need a
wireless CCTV kit and a Wi-Fi bridge for your xbox. You might also want to
consider motion detectors for the CCTV so you are not recording nothing.
Using CCTV will not only alow you to detect intruders, but it helps cure
paranoia.
6 - Mobile phones
Probably a hackers best friend. Mobile telecommunication has taken off, there
are that many devices now going mobile and being integrated. Use your head, most
phones ship with a video camera now and audio recorder. If someone does not
sound right, record the fscker and pass it round the underground to see if they
are a feeb.
7 - Data Stenography
Flash cards, mobile usimm and countless other devices can be used to hide
your code and information. You can hide data in that many different digital
devices'.
8 - Weak keys
ffs, use some common sense when choosing passwords and encryption keys'. True,
the sun will probably go supernova before a pc can brute-force some algorithms',
but this does not mean you should be lax on your keys. If you are short on
ideas', grab 'pump up the valuum' from the CD rack and use the tracks as input
for a key. It is as simple as that.
9 - Travel plans?
Avoid embassies, attachaes or other federal buildings overseas. If you loose
your passport you will need thier help to get back in the country, but these
people are definetly not the people to mess with. As you may or may not be
aware, the intelligence community is embedded in the diplomatic community.
For your own safety, do not **** with these people.
