Why don't you ever answer your own questions? Every thread you start with a question yet you never answer it.

That's just odd. :)

Honestly, because I'm kinda new to the whole indie thing. That's why. I'm lookin' to see what other people are into first. :D

indie band?

how indie do you want it?

Anathallo (www.anathallo.com) - Incredibly musical, Amazingly Talented, and Really Creative. 'Floating World' is chillin in stores, at least around me...

Thunderbirds Are Now! (http://www.Thunderbirdsarenow.com) - I've already suggested them on like 5 other occasions, but seriously. Listen to "This World is Made of Paper", and tell me they don't own you. From My State!

Aesop Rock - Rap skills + Razor Wit + Amazing vocabulary + Meaningful Lyrics = Good. Seriously, I can't stand most rap, but Aesop Rock removes all the crap and gives it some substance. good luck finding any... Go buy (or torrent if you must) 'Labor Days'.

Would Head Automatica or Saosin be considered indie? If so, they're definitely on my list.

@ Farva-
Death cab for cutie and the Decemberists definitely aren't indie.

I don't know if they're indie but I don't know many people who have heard of The southland and Pinback, I also agree with minus the bear. They are awesome.

Well, they just recently parted company, but for years it didn't get much better than Grandaddy (http://www.grandaddylandscape.com). At least the members of the band are all still out there pursuing their own individual musical careers.

This is the only band that I've ever liked where when they broke up I was actually sad. Still am.

Ok.. well they where when I first started listening a few years back. Not alot of people had heard of DCfC before Transatlanatism. Also The Decemberist are defiantely indie (Ok just read about their newest album being released on a major record label) in the style of music they play. But hey lets not argue and just say that it's awesome music. Pinback is awesome, check out the song Fortress.
