2. He asked that we not post it, but rather let it come out in due course. techguru trying to help posted this on the forums as he had missed Danny's request to not post this in the forums. It was offered that the thread be deleted but Danny said don't worry about it.

3. It's just the one episode so don't lose your cookies.

4. Personally I'm hoping there's some polyhedral action going on.

DannyT.... it was "Skeleton CREW". Sheesh. :p I wasn't screaming about Alex's movie, but I did yell at the screen for that one.

That said, the best text adventure PC game I ever played was the one based on SK's "The Mist". I'm jazzed for this movie, as long as they don't **** it up.

Albrecht was funny and I really liked Jeff, but the Drome just ain't the Drome without JLo. There wasn't nearly enough touching going on either.

Despite thier arguments against the PS3 which all seemed valid I am still looking forward to it. Dan shouldn't have budged from his first opinion of the situation though because I thought the way he compared it to Xmen was spot on. You have to wait until it's physically in your hands to really judge it's quality and accurately compare it to the 360. 10,000 PS3 articles on Digg don't mean shit. I say **** the internet, my opinion is the only one that matters to me.

There were a lot of awesome PS2 games but I only played like four titles on my xbox: KOTOR, Halo(not a fan either), Ninja Gaiden, and Chronicals of Riddick. Two of those games made the $300 investment worth it to me to buy the console. If Sony can put out even 4-5 sweet games in a 6year span I don't have a problem investing $600 into entertaining myself with them. I just won't be doing that until one of those system selling games comes out. There's also going to be an endless amount of mediocre-to-good PS3 games worth playing too. I do think they should delay the N. America launch and focus strickly on Japan. Nobody here needs a PS3 until next spring unless they're going to be watching Blu-ray movies.

That was ****in awesome. I really love Albrecht a lot since I also listen to Diggnation religiously, but am always kinda remiss about his "i'm above certain things" aura. He never watches the drome, and was one of those people who rolls their eyes at comic references and that just didn't fly...but once he got his techgeek videogameness going, I just nestled lovingly into his arms.
Albrecht = awesome.

(and by the way DannyT Tim Sale and Jeph Loeb did Long Halloween, etc....it was Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee who did "Hush", which followed a lot of the same storyline, etc.)

Episode 48 was the first episode I've ever actually listened to all the way through and I really enjoyed it.

I've been a bit burned out and unfocused ("you don't say!" cry the viewers of Episode 47) and it was very good to have an episode break and see Dan having fun with Alex and Jeff. I loved the comic book and video game talk. It refocused me a lot. I like having new blood on the show from time to time because god knows Dan and I have heard a lot of each other's views and Alex and Jeff sounded so fresh talking about things and giving new opinions and perspectives.

I appreciate people saying they missed me this episode and I'm happy that people responded enthusiastically to Alex and Jeff. Even the people who think I should eat a curb (let me know how Alex's dick tastes when you're done with it).

I want the Drome to be this fresh every episode and be consistent but still have enough excitement and new appeal to bring in new listeners and widen our audience. I've definitely been frustrated at times and have had a lot of miscommunication with my friend Dan.

But Dromies never say die.

And this Dromie leaves no geek behind. This episode got me superpumped to bring you guys a fun and filled to the brim episode 49 with content and entertaining discussion with miraculous insights on the geek experience. Dan and I saw a movie today and talked about how the show can grow and where we want to go with it.

I'm excited and you should be too. There is more to come and I'm glad I got this breather.

Well I'm by no means a gamer. Last console I had was the original NES but by Nintendo's own admission the Wii isn't on the same level as the 360 and PS3 when it comes to graphics and such so I don't think you can compare them. About all you can do is take what they tell us about the Wii and weigh that against the 250 you have in your pocket and go by that.

The movie Alex was talking about was Alien. He even said that very briefly and then let it slide.

The scene he is talking about is when they land on the planet and enter the crashed "super large alien's" space ship. They walk down the spine bones/pilot seat of the "super large alien" and get down to a field of eggs covered in mist. As they are walking around, one of the eggs pops open, the face hugger jumps out, and so begins the fabulous adventures of Ripley.

I remember seeing Alien when I was a kid and that egg scene scared the hell out of me. I'm only a little older thn Alex, so I suspect we had similar reactions.

I don't think that link is entirely fair. For instance, with the zelda link, the second photo is of a game that actually runs on the gamecube, and will be released on it. They're comparing super smash brothers link, a launch title, to link from a game 5 years later on the system. Same with the other photos, doesn't mean there isn't a gamecube architecture within the wii, because games always look better at the end of the generation ie Resident Evil 4. Eventually that same architecture may hit a plateau though, I think that's the worry here.

Alex and Jeff were awesome subs for JLo. Makes me remember how much I hated the previous guest (except the dromers and SweatyRobot).

I found that the added substance was nice. Not too far off from what's normally done on an episode, so if you're going to be tweaking, don't go overboard.

Me and Dan are *here* with love for The Prestige. Dan, keep this up and you'll be my geek Ebert. I have a few people who I'll go see a movie based soley on their recommendation...I'll see after a few more reviews.

That HBO theme music is forever burned in my memory. I too, went to a grandparents house who had one of those huge satellite dishes and also saw Alien on this huge old-school projection screen for the first time...scared the crap out of me.

The Wii is 2(or is it 3?) times more powerful than the Xbox(and 100 times quieter and more reliable). It won't have Gamecube graphics; it'll have Wii graphics. Zelda will support 16:9 as will several other games I'm sure. Man, there's nothing worse then when geeks get there information wrong. Video games is one of the 3 tenets of Geekdrome. Step it up guys.

From the way he described it, I thought the eggs were hanging off the underside of the "metal bridge" (catwalk) as someone walked over it, so I dismissed "Aliens" and thought it might have been some cheap knockoff movie. That, or he was thinking of the preying-mantis teacher episode of "Buffy". :p

As far as the Wii becoming the top console... unless they get some content, that's never going to happen. The gamecube has one good game series... Zelda... and they're going to need more than that to dominate.

Look at what happened to the PSP. It's a decent little widescreen unit that has a fabulous picture... but they insisted on their proprietary format, and ridiculously low storage space out of the box, so nobody uses them anymore because there's nothing to use ON them.

The Wii may end up being an awesome looking unit at a reasonable price, but that won't mean diddley if there are never any games worth playing on it.

As for the Wii's graphical comparison to the 360 I don't agree with what I'm hearing. I'm not impressed with the quality of graphics we're seeing out of titles like Splinter Cell for the 360, a franchise known for pushing limits of the hardware. To me, all it looks like they're doing it putting a glossy finish on every single thing they can regardless if it looks realistic or not. They're just glazing Xbox games like a doughnut, charging 10 more bucks, and pretending like it's the greatest thing ever. I'm sure in the next 5 years there will be several titles that knock our socks off but I've yet to see any real eye candy so far from the 360. I don't mind either because games like Splinter Cell are fun to play even if they have blocky shadowing. I'm really not seeing that big of a gap between original xbox graphics and the 360's right now, which also means the Wii and 360 gap is going to be even smaller than that.

Is $250 really THAT cheap? I see what Alex and the guys are saying. If the Wii would have hit the market at a Dreamcast-esque $199, I'd be first in line. But, at $250, I'm hesitant.

And, what's with Wii sports? I don't want this game. I'd much rather have Zelda instead. It seems unfair to artificially raise the price of a console with a game I don't want.

The Wii is 2(or is it 3?) times more powerful than the Xbox(and 100 times quieter and more reliable). It won't have Gamecube graphics; it'll have Wii graphics. Zelda will support 16:9 as will several other games I'm sure. Man, there's nothing worse then when geeks get there information wrong. Video games is one of the 3 tenets of Geekdrome. Step it up guys.

Gamecube already supports 16x9 on select titles. Also, this is a quote from Miyamoto:

"The hardware is basically a GC. We've upgraded our development tools to new versions but, you can still use GC programs as they are. With that in mind, I thought we could remake GC titles for the Wii and modify them to work with the Wii remote so that they're more fun to play."

Consider it stepped up.

Have you checked out Ghost Recon yet? That's what did it for me.

The ps3 to me has nothing in my eyes to be worth a purchase. Blue-Ray? I don't give a damn about that, why should I pay $700 for it. The console looks clunky, and there are 0 games for it that interest me. The 360 has dvd compatbility, hd compatiblity (don't have an hd tv so I don't care though),backwards compatiblity, live arcade, live itself, Halo 3, Gears of War, Splinter Cell and MGS 4 might go to the 360. Plus,i t's already out and has quality games for it.

And I gotta say I've never been so phyched to watch a movie based on a review, juding from the trailer The prestiege kinda looked crappy but based on what I heard on the review I'm mostly definitley gonna check it out. Best mvie review on teh show so far,imo.

I like Dan's sense of humor, but I think Jonathan brings out the best in him. I think this was the least entertaining show since Cease. As a whole I enjoy the weeks that they don't have a guest more than when they do. It always turns into show and tell of who the person is and why they're worthy to be a guest host on Geekdrome instead of discussion of current topics. It felt different with Alex and Jeff and not in a good way. Even though I liked Jeff, Alex was just a more likeable Kyle Cease. If I didn't already know him from his days on TSS and Diggnation I probably wouldn't have liked him on Geekdrome just because it's not really his cup of tea. Jeff on the other hand seemed to be like any one of us and has his finger on the pulse of movies, comics, and games. Have him back sometime guys. Steve Holmes needs to be back on again too, he cracked me up.
