1. Where the heck did you hear this?

2. Even Alex couldn't save that piece of &*$% channel.

Where did you hear this. I would think that Alex going back to G4 is about as likely as Fox deciding they made a horrible mistake and offering Josh Whedon any amount of money to come back and continue firefly. Sure it could happen, but it is incredibly unlikely.

I think that alex (and all of the old TechTV people) are done with G4. Plus, attack of the show sucks...

1. i actually like attack of the show theres nothing wrong with execpt for the fact that it's not the screen savers.

2. one of the hosts said it on the show today.

and yes i know it does seem weird that Alex would go back on G4.

So there's truth behind this rumor? Oh god, I absolutely HATE G4. I hate everything about it, its annoying ass hosts, its stupid sketches, its nothing-to-do with tech programs.

Diddo. I tried to watch x-play and I had to shut it off. The only good thing they have is Ninja Warrior, which can get old fast.

At least here in Canada the only shows that are from the states are Attack of the show and x-play we still have tech on our network like The Lab With Leo.

I was gonna say, "Who is this Josh Whedon you speak of?"

Whoever he is, he gets a lot of name recognition.

Executive producer Josh Whedon: the guy who's names sounds like the guy who brought us "Buffy", "Angel" and "Firefly"...

Is it for The Loop segment or is he going to be a guest for some reason? And AOTS is not that bad and G4 does air Arrested Development so there is some good in them, I can feel it.

Well, who would have thought it, but Alex will be on G4 TV again. Guest co hosting Attack of the Show next Tuesday 7pm est. Gratz Alex. I didn't get the channel back when he briefly did Screen Savers.

Also, the Ninja from "Ask a Ninja" will be guest co hosting on Wednesday.

great now i need to watch this shitty programming, the only way this would be good is if at the end Alex goes on a rampage and kills everyone then bringing Kevin Rose, Sarah Lane, Patrick Norton and Dan Huard onto the stage to announce the re-birth of The Screen Savers.

Am I the only person who thinks that not only Ninja Warrior, but also Code Monkeys, is a good show? Give that one a chance...it can be pretty hilarious, I think.

I might watch this. AOTS hurts my eyes and my brain. It's mainly the shitty hosting.

That'll be awkward... Though I guess any exposure for Alex is good.. even if it is on a station that ****ed him over.
I guess they(G4 producers) don't watch diggnation often enough, as he hasn't exactly shied away from expressing his feelings about G4.

I won't watch anything on G4 just on the basis that it helps them earn money. This is mildly irritating when they're showing Star Trek TNG reruns or Arrested Development reruns and there isn't anything else on, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make.

There's a lot more wrong with Attack of the Show than it not being The Screen Savers. It has literally no content, and is nothing but a cross promotional ploy. When not promoting one of the other shows on the network, they're watching youtube videos, or doing segments about penises and pussies. Sorry, no thanks.

I think AOTS is just a bad misuse of some decent resources. There content is crap for the most part. From watching the Gadget PrOn stuff its fairly obvious that Keven actually knows a little bit about technology. But Olivia is dumber than a box of rocks and seems to hold him back. In the last Gadget PrOn podcast that i downloaded there was something stupid that Olivia said and Kevin looked like he just wanted to hit her. The show would probably be better if she wasn't a part of it at all. I am okay with that Layla chick doing the news casue all she has to do is read a stupid script. The show would be alot better if it was more focused on Tech news that mattered and not so much on stupid kids on YouTube. It seems the host know there on a shit show and just dont give a **** about it.

Doubt it...they probably just decided that the Canadian viewers prefer the tech, while US tv is 'all about the glitz' or somesuch. Remember they picked up some Call of Help episodes, but then put them on during times people couldn't really watch them.

Guys, remember that G4 is owned and operated by Comcast, the most evil of all television/cable distributors... Thank those overlords for destroying all that was good on TechTV.

Still, I can't fault Alex for coming back to co-host. Money is money, and I'm sure that there weren't any hard feelings between himself and some of the other co-hosts. Kevin (Rose) seemed to be in the same boat when he left the show as well, in that sort of "blame the management" sort of stuff.

I watch AOTS because its entertaining at the very least, and furthermore, interesting on some levels as well. No, it will NEVER live up to the goodness that was The Screensavers, but I still check-in every once in a while to see whats going on. I personally like KP and Olivia, they're good hosts, and KP can still nerd-out on occasion... However, no one will ever out-do Kevin (Rose), Patrick, Alex, Brendon and Sarah. Good times they were...

While I do think G4 have gone way downhill, I do think that AOTS has improved drastically. Munn and Perreira's on screen chemistry is really good and I like them as hosts, Blair Butler is also very good. Some quality segments here and there, but it can get a little immature at times.

I don't make an effort to watch it, but if it's on and I'm flipping, I'll usually keep it on until I'm not interested.

Is Tommy Tallarico still hosting that show? Cause if so, you may as well watch a dung beetle roll around a piece of poo for an hour. Either that or just put the numbers 1-10 on a dart board, close your eyes and throw. That's the rating for the game you want reviewed. Oh, and if it's a Nintendo game you may as well just have 1-3 on the dart board. BTW, **** Tommy Tallarico.

I liked Judgement Day better than Extended/X-Play. Tommy Tallarico tells it like it is.

Attack of the Show is pretty good, but I have to TiVo it because all of the content I've already read on Digg so I just see if they have something neat going on.

The people screaming "Traitor!" and all these other dumb comments need to look at it from this perspective, G4TV ratings are in the crapper, so they are looking towards people like Alex (Who they fired) and Ninja from "Ask A Ninja", both people from very popular podcasts, to try to get them some ratings from their fans. It probably won't work, but I'm probably going to watch to see Alex.

Like Eddie said, hes gone now... Though id be careful about trashing him on forums... He's kinda got a creepy habit of seeking these threads out and joining the discussion.
I'll never forget the time i casually mentioned i thought he was a dick for giving a gamecube game a bad score because of the character shadows(PSO)... No more then 20 minutes later, he had signed up for the forum, talked to the admins to give him VIP status(to prove it was actually him) and tried to get in a heated point by point argument on how I was a douchebag... I'll give him credit, i was being unnecessarily harsh on him, but the fact that he trolls the major forums LOOKING for fights kinda puts me off.

He is a terrible reviewer and stuffing shit down his pants was never funny unless I was 10 years old or some inbred then I might have laughed,I applaud him for getting Play! going but him as a composer ..he has some ok stuff but most of it is bland and does not stand out among the many many many many composers out there in gaming that exceeds his work.

I don't care if he kisses someones ass to get some VIP on a internet message board to get a topic locked or whatever...big whoop.

And IF he does it would show he is an insecure ego filled dick.

That's pretty cool that he's going to be on. It's going to be a wild show, I still remember when Kevin and Alex were the hosts towards the end, the stuff they said. :D

I pretty much dvr AotS now and just fast forward through it, I don't care about the youtube playbacks and could care less about many of the segments, but still the debates are sometimes interesting and the comic and dvd reviews are sometimes worth checking out. It pales in comparision to the Screen Savers though.

Only temporarily, Tommy is touring with video games live, so Vic is just having friends and crew members help him review.

Good shit, I DVR'd the episode since I'll be at class. I only caught a few episodes of TSS back in the day when I just got digital cable, but I was able to enjoy it for a few months before it got dropped. That being said, I also like AOTS whenever I catch it. It's actually the only thing I tune in to G4 for.

Well no shit. The guy is a Grade A douche. I have a friend who met him (no shit, he works for Sony and was doing video work at one of one of the Video Games Live events) and he said that the guy is just as big a douche in real life.

And anyone who sits around Googling their name just to see what random internet trolls are trashing him, then proceeds to get in an internet fight with them, really needs to seek psychiatric help. You're too tied up in your own ego at that point to function as a rational human being would.

Anyway, time to go watch some Dexter!

Okay, this is late, and I'm not trying to pick a fight, but isn't boycotting things on principle a little...childish? I mean, if they provide content you want, watch it. :\ That might even drive the point home more that their original programming sucks and that those reruns are the only thing you tune in for, if that's all anybody is watching. This might be wishful thinking on my part, though.

If you're doing this because the network is causing damage to people or an industry through its existence (Kevin, Alex, Leo etc.,) then disregard everything I said, because I understand where you're coming from.

I dont think its childish at all.

G4 in my personal opinion caused the downfall of techtv. Now, maybe you werent a techtv fan, but i had it on 24/7. Never did i get more info and more pump for tech then that channel and they got it and turned it into something for the mtv crowd. Now the 1 channel that was pure tech is dead, so i dont feel that wanting to not support them for that is childish.

Thats why i did a wtf when i saw alex was going on the show. I can only think that the show is bombing and since kevin and alex are kinda friends with a few of the remaining hosts some what, that a favor was called in. If i had been hired then fired 3 months later, i would hold a bit of a grudge.

I almost dont want to watch it despite alex hosting, but lets face it, im a huge fan of TRS and Diggnation, i probably wont be able to pass it up.

G4 in my personal opinion caused the downfall of techtv.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no G4 fan by any means. I think Code Monkeys is about the only original programming that was mildly worth watching and I very rarely watch that.

That said, Comcast (the owner of G4) is more to blame. G4 never had much going for it and TechTV was having a hard time holding on, so Comcast bought TechTV and merged the two. Many of the old TechTV crew didn't like the new conditions and left. Comcast/G4 was pretty much left with their old crews and shows. Plain and simple it was a bad merger. The companies were too different and could not co-habitate.

Think about it this way, G4, like a 18-20 year old uber gamer and TechTV like a 28-30 year old tech geek. Sure there is a chance they'll get along fine but a much greater chance that the older geek is going to get sick of the gamer-teen and move out.

At least that's my take on things. For what it's worth.

sort of... The Canadian version has always been tech oriented. Call for Help is gone and they rarely show it now, it's all The Lab with Leo now.
Reviews on the Run and Electronic Playworld is much better now that Tommy's not on it, but I think they keep him around because of his connections into the industry... that or the producers think that he gives one amazing blowjob.

Anyway, the American programming says g4, but the listings list the channel as Techtv in Canada... maybe with luck the Canadian version will split off from the US, get sold to Rev3 and we can all live happily ever after.

I'll be honest, I love X-Play. It's pretty much the only thing I used to watch on TechTV, and then on G4. I don't get G4 anymore, but I still download X-Play as a podcast(all their reviews are online).

Tallarico always struck me as just...dumb. He always came off as this guy who didn't play games all the way through before he reviewed them(which is worse for him than with the TRS guys because he was on an actual review show giving out number scores) and just sort of seemed like his taste in games was that of the retarded frat guy.

Tommy doesn't like the game Homeworld and so gave it a bad review based on what he likes in games, not what the game had to offer. Homeworld went on to win game of the year from many, many publications and websites. He's seemed to do this with everything he reviews.

Well I knew he was an idiot when he said it took him 45 min just to figure out how to leave a room in Harvest Moon for Gamecube.

He also whenever he didn't like the music he tried insulting it saying it sounds like SNES music...um the SNES had many games with great music and the greatest sound chip designed for it's day and listen to it now and you are still amazed it could do so much, and that was when Sony and Nintendo were friends so Sony made the chip.

satori
12-04-2007, 05:17 AM
yes, it's amazing how he discounts game based on sound alone. I wish they could pick another co-host that gives a better perspective on how the game is. Vic, as much as I like him as a host, tends to give slightly over rated reviews, but you can discount the score yourself to get a more realistic mark. Tommy on the other hand seems to base his scores on how much game hardware he managed to rub against his gonads on that particular episode.
