I'm running windows xp media center and everytime I try to play a quicktime movie, the video freezes but the audio keeps playing fine. My cpu will be at 100% when this happens. It also happens on some .wmv movies. I know my computer is old but, when I boot into linux and play these movies, they play just fine. Here are my computer specs.

Processor: AMD athlon xp 1600+ 1.4ghz
Memory: 704mb sdram 133mhz
Viideo: Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 256mb
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA7ZXE rev. 2.1

any ideas?

Upgrade to latest quicktime.

I'm using 7.3, I'm pretty sure that's the latest version.

Quicktime is really, really, poorly optimized for Windows. Try using VLC to play back the files. If it makes a difference, you have your culprit.
