Hey all. Long time reader... First time typer.

I am guessing that many TRS fans love electronic music like Above & beyond, Imogen Heap, Frou Frou etc... I love the sound and find it great to zone out to while I am waiting for my WoW server to come back online. Can you guys give me some groups or tracks that I should be grabbing from torrents... er... purchasing legally? :)

So you just want ambient/chill out electronic music?
Well you have come to the right place...although the chill genre is not quite my forté I can give you some suggestions.

BT - The Binary Universe (This should be the first thing you get...a beautiful album)
Lemon Jelly (any of their albums)
Sasha - Involver
Massive Attack - Mezzanine

You can also go to https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/home/detail/1/welcome_to_beatport
then go to Genres and check out Chill Out, Minimal, and Tech House for that type of music.

I'll keep updating this when more things come to mind.

I'm big on R&B and Rap so my choices are:

Kanye West
Craig David
Daniel Bedingfield
and a little John Mayer for good measure.

On a more Rock note.

you can't go wrong with System of a Down.

If you can't dance, go for some ska, I like Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Less Than Jake, and Reel Big Fish, some other bands like Mustard Plug and The Hippos are alright. But anyone can skank, and it doesn't matter if you suck, because almost no one is good at it, seriously like 2 guys ever.

E*Vax has a really mellow album out called "Parking Lot Music" and I think you would really like it.

Ratatat has 2 great albums out....a little more upbeat. "Ratatat" and "Classics"

download them first.......buy em if you enjoy them :)

as a fan of drum and bass, I must toss the more mellow D&B artists into the mix

Kosheen
Ror-shak
LTJ Bukem ( and basically anyone from his label Good Looking Records )

I am not a music guy. I will not know who the next big thing is 'till I am "told".

I did enjoy Kid Rock and Eminem in their day. Also DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince in their day. I am not all about Hip Hop. I also thrived on Motley Crue and Poison. What I like is what I think is the best of the trend. Most of what I enjoy piles up to a comedic outlook and expression. Just do it 'cause it is freakin' fun! (I think there are about 3 slogans in there.)

In the past 7 to ten years, I can't name my favorite band or group or "pop star". I just don't care. There are no more Areosmiths', Motley Crues' or any other 20+ year pros that just get it done. Ok, I will say it. Bon Jovi. I didn't mention them all. Like Metallica. I am that Grand-dad that all of you hate saying, "That isn't music....It is just noise!"
Nothing matters anymore.

Nothing done today will change the World tomorrow. It just doesn't happen anymore.

I can't dance, even though I try to, but my playlist usually conists of the following:

- The Killers
- My Chemical Romance
- Panic! At the Disco
- MUSE
- Razorlight
- Locksley (dance to it, no matter what, you'll look cool)
- Kaiser Chiefs
- Cold War Kids
- Amy Winehouse
- Paramore (the best new band out there right now?)

What I suggest?

Check out the BBC Radio 1 Page for good bands that are big over there before they get here... (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1)

Yes, I love electronic music. My collection of it isn't too extensive, but thanks a bunch for the suggestions. I'll be sure to check them out.

Lots of good picks before me. So I'll just throw out one of my favorites: Minus the Bear.

Ah the Hippos. My girlfriend said she didn't like them because it was too "horn-y" then instantly realized what she just said.

According to the bands you posted I think you'd really like listening to Indie 103.1 online indie1031.fm (http://indie1031.fm/4045_Listen_Live.php?id=27)

other bands that are not really too mellow but I've been listening to lately:
The Bravery
Hanson (surprisingly i saw locksley open for them and i dug them too)
Klaxons
The Polyphonic Spree
Tegan and Sara

For something calming, or all around strange, I recommend Sigur Ros (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWR-jJ3v1pk). Beautiful stuff.

Most of the bands that are being suggested aren't even electronic music...so proceed with caution.

And most of them even though they aren't electronic are definitely not music to zone out to.

Also if you wanted you could go check out the Trance section on beatport as well and check out goa-trance specifically.

Oh, I Totally® forgot; I do have some zoning music for the short breaks between metal albums!

Try any of the Gregorian albums; that's the group name, not the genre.

Also, try Era's "Era II" disc.

These aren't strictly electronic, but both have electronic elements in them.

BT - The Binary Universe (This should be the first thing you get...a beautiful album)
Lemon Jelly (any of their albums)
Sasha - Involver
Massive Attack - Mezzanine

I also strongly suggest BT's The Binary Universe, but I would make sure and buy this one. It's the price of a regular cd, but it comes with the entire album on DVD in 5.1 surround and video to accompany the music that is some of the best I've ever seen.

Sasha's Involver is a great mix cd, but I would recommend his album Airdrawndagger even more.

Allow me to also second someone else's recomendation of High Contrast. That is drum & bass, but it's so melodic that I find it chill even though the beats are pretty rapid.
