hey all, i got 2 wired headsets that are both on their way out. Sometimes when they're plugged right into the controller the mic still doesn't work, or it will snap in and out of working (as i can tell with being able to hear the voices through my tv and then back through the mic and so forth). Anyway xmas is coming up and I was wondering about asking the sister for the wireless headset.
I remember hearing that back when they launched they were a little buggy, I'm sure they've worked the tweaks out by now right? Anyone got one? Any major cons I should be aware of before I get it?

I have one, but I never use it. Functionally it works perfectly on my system. It's just not very user friendly for me.
The reason is that the mute button is on the headset up by your ear. If you are like me and you keep yourself muted most of the time (in my case I have an annoying persistent cough), then it is a PITA to take your hand off the controller to turn the mic on and off.

Almost any new good game on the 360 same price as the wireless not worth it when you could get a game for xmas instead for the same price. But if you have all the games you want go for it. I don't know about the bug issues though.

i actually just bought one 2 days ago due to my wired one's breaking. i figured hey i might as well go wireless, it's gotta be awesome.
unfortunately, i am not a fan. it's a heavy beast, not like you'll feel it weighing you down but gravity pulls it down and away from your face, no matter what angle you have it. other than it being uncomfortable it works great but i would just go wired if i could do-over.
oh yeah, and i was buying it at the time that my family was buying presents to donate, a shopping cart full of board games toys and all kinds of other stuff to make a kids christmas awesome still rang up $3 LESS than my headset. i felt like a dick to say the least.

I've never actually used the wireless headset but I still think I'd like the wired ones a lot better. I also keep myself muted more often than not (just not very talkative, plus I can sometimes come down with a harsh case of Tourette's...) so being able to switch in and out if I need to is definitely a luxury.
This is what I will say.

Another thing about this is that they also have these 3 month Xbox live kits for 29.99. It includes 3 months of XBL gold service, a wired headset, and 400 MS Points ($5 USD). Taking all three of those things at their separate retail prices, thats $45 ($20 + $20 + $5) worth of stuff for only $30.
If you need a new headset then why not spend a little more money and get a little Xbox live booster and an XBLA game too?

I have the wireless headset and capture more of the ambient sound. I play with a surround system (home theater setup) and the sound of the game is picked up a lot more than the wired headset.
