So, my buddies had a Halloween party this past Saturday night (yea I know its a bit early, but it was better than competing with all the other parties this weekend). So it was time to go and I was happy because besides the party starting to suck I could go home and watch Geekdrome, and I had to car-jockey my car out of a space that had another car kinda sticking into the driveway, so i put my booze & backpack down for a second to hop in my car and concentrate on not hitting the other...i back out ok, tell my gf to grab my stuff and hop in the car because i thought another car was waiting for me to move...so i get home and realize my backpack wasn't in the car and start freaking out, so i speed back to my buddies house, and nothing, someone must have come by and snatched it...so i lost my wallet, cell phone, and digital camera...
i know this will probably be moved or deleted by the mod, but i just feel like venting and at least showing the sacrifice i made by accident just to get home to watch my favorite podcast
to at least make this a worthy thread, what geek equipment have you lossed in your lifetime?

Today my friend told me that in his art class, a student had his laptop and backpack set up and then left the room to go do something, like use the bathroom. Some guy came in and sat down at his seat, closed the laptop, put it in the backpack, then walked out with it. None of the other 6 or so people in the classroom noticed; to them it looked like the guy came in and packed his stuff and left.
I guess a minute or so later, the student to whom the laptop belonged to came back and realized it was gone. Only one person was able to give somewhat of a description of the guy who came in, and they got the campus police involved and ran around looking for the guy, but didn't find him. So that sucks for that guy.
I don't trust anyone when it comes to my stuff, especially my laptop. It goes with me into the bathroom, and I never let my stuff out of my sight.

I won't move it or delete it...rename the thread "stuff you've lost" or something. i'll pm your ass.
I lost a phone, it was a nokia and it was tiny and I got these awesome little clicky buttons (rubbery buttons that just kind of limp to your finger's commands suck ass, but firm, awesome clicky ones...THAT'S the way to press a button!). Anyway, I LOVED this phone. Everyone was getting camera phones, and color phones, and everything else, but I was totally happy with my simple nokia with nothing on it but unbeatable high score on snake and a star wars ringtone. I really loved that phone. *Sigh* airport.
A panasonic bike I had gotten for free that was reeeeeeeaaaaallly fast. Yes yes they make bikes. Also, it had SUCH a comfortable seat cushion. And then another bike...:( both in a REALLY upscale "safe" neighborhood. beware of rich white kids folks, they're the worst!
to make you feel better, though, Cyrinix, my friend andy had a party at his place (near UCLA). He had the following stolen/lost within a week (as well as during the party): Bike, Cell phone, 12-inch Powerbook, Wallet. Powerbook. Eff that, man.

whats the point of replacing the screen if it was going to cost 900 bucks. just get a new one and hook up an external monitor to the old laptop to keep using it

The other point is if you break someone's stuff, you should replace it.

Man that must be a horrible feeling to have something stolen from you. Thankfully it hasn't happened to me but I can imagine how shitty it must feel. :( Man...
