So I'm at the hotel really late, and me and my geeky buddy/coworker Kelly are getting some stuff ready for the morning in my Banquet Department. Well, we're out in our Atrium area, which is extremely quiet at 2AM like you'd imagine, especially with the fountain off. So the only sounds we're hearing are basically our voices, some rustling from the front desk, and the muzak over the in house radio.

So, we're just going along, chatting and dropping some tables and I hear this little chiming piano and say "Hold up a second, do you hear that?" to my buddy. He perks his ears up, listens and bit and says "Holy **** dude, you know what that is?"... it was the goddamn ending credits theme music to the old Incredible Hulk show. You know, that really sad droning noise as David Banner is walking down the side of the road, thumb out and looking for a ride? Yeah, that depressing little ditty ****ing reared its head and we couldn't do anything but shake it out of our heads and kind of chuckle at how odd it was that something like that was playing in a hotel lobby.

But it gets worse...

After just having shook the image of Not Bruce Banner walking down that dusty road out of our nerdy little heads, I ****ing shit you not and I don't know why or where the **** this came from, a just slightly altered version of the music that plays when Aeris is killed in Final Fantasy VII starts to come over the speakers...

Seriously, WHAT THE ****?!? My buddy and I almost started bawling on the ****ing spot! All I kept seeing were images of Sephiroth running her through and Cloud laying her to rest in the lake. And it just kept going and going and going while Kelly and I just ****ing stood there looking at each other, two whimpering *****es who couldn't believe what was going on. Eventually I just said "Oh, **** this noise" and walked away to the back of the house until I was sure the horror was over.

Make fun all you want, but goddammit, that shit was ****ing traumatizing!!!

I recently watched The Wrath of Khan at a midnight showing. Myself as well as everyone else in the theater was laughing through the whole flick at the goofiness that is the original cast of Star Trek. Then the end of the movie came. When Spocks saves the Enterprise and gets the warp drive working at the last possible second... yeah, people stopped exclaiming silly comments. Watching that Vulcan sacrifice himself for the needs of many is a universally depressing moment for all of our inner geeks. And it demands our geeky respect.

I make it my goal every day at work to make somebody cry.

I make it my goal every day at work to make somebody cry.

See, I usually just try and sexually harass at least one person a day. Usually multiple times... working in a hotel is fun some times.
