Why do they know how to use microwave rays to cure illnesses and such, but not to evenly heat a burrito?

I'm not-literally jacked up right now with tiredness. The subject line should say "thing," not "think." Dammit, why do we not have the option of editting the subject lines like other places? Ih yeah, so we can feel like idiots and everyone can laugh at us.

Yeah. For a long time. Microwave Medical Systems (http://www.sba.gov/sbir/tibbetts/mms.html) See? Can use microwaves to heat blood at a consisten temp, but not to heat my damned chimichanga!

Burrito? Where is this burrito of which you speak? You mean the changa of Chimi?
Yeah, all it did was piss Chimi off.

Ok, when the hell did it turn into a chimichanga? It was a burrito 20 minutes ago...

Same as being able to send people into space, yet cell reception is terrible.
Or... you can replace hearts but there's only 12 HD channels available in my area??? WTF?!?

Yup, better connectivity with people in outer space than we can get with someone two blocks away!

Umm.. I don't know if you want this question actually answered or not, but here goes. The reason they can't heat your burrito evenly is because they're so damn precise, and it's expensive to make them imprecise enough to heat food at short range and low power. Microwaves are precise enough for long distance transmission and high precision surgery, and that's the problem.

I was being more rhetorical. I know that the cost-precision is the reason. Can I stick you in a microwave now and see if it will heat you thoroughly? :D

Yes, I have. I think I may have too many USB peripherals plugged in. My printer, my wireless network card, my webcam, my external hard drive, and then my mouse. I unplugged the things I didn't need and giving it a go now. I dunno how it could be 'broken'. Aren't these things supposed to last for a while? Forever?
