I know everyone seems upset, but I found it to be entertaining. Everyone just needs to chill out. I love rev3 (way better alternative to G4 these days.) and I know that they haven't gave us a Gazette lately but come on guys. It's the holidays. I'm sure that with the new studio getting close to being finished, they are very busy trying to set up stages and get things prepared for the big unvailing. And until then we still have Diggnation, Web Drifter and all the great shows they offer, so lets just sit back and relax, shall we.

First off, if Martin filled in I wouldn't download it at all, but whatever.

Secondly Revision 3 is a business, it doesn't matter how busy Sarah is, it's Revision3's responsibility to put out content on time and not filler. The viewers have the power to stop downloading, lets see what their sponsors think of the numbers then. Furthermore for all of us that donate to R3G: We should stop donating (yeah, we'll loose the early Diggnation, but so be it) until Revision3 gives us what we want.

Yeah... but isn't Revision3 suppose to be a proper network now (not in the classical sense of TV network)? Could you imagine someone like NBC or CBS putting that in place of someone like Letterman or Leno?

I understand all the pressures but Jim Louderback made a big song and dance about posting his schedule last week... on the day that the gazette got postponed another week.

Oh and i have just read Prager's blog post explaining why its on a break: "our Revision3 Gazette has been dormant for a couple of weeks and taken a back seat to making sure our real shows can stick to their schedules."

Fine, if the Gazette is not a 'real' show, then take it of your schedule. If the Gazette has to be a fortnightly thing, but it delivers decent content, even better.

Dont get me wrong, i want Rev3 to be huge. But to gain hugeness, it has to mimic the traditional networks in some sense, particularly delivering on time and on content. Until then, Rev3 is still just a video blog site...

Im sorry to keep on about this but this has really just pushed me over the edge. Here is my list of things that i would have prefered to see on a Gazette then that:

- What is Dave Randolph doing:
Follow that guy around for the afternoon. He does some intresting stuff. Simple, 1 camera, no host, quick edit...

- Outtakes Of Other Show
Easy, no brainer. U can have this stuff already lined up in case u miss a week.

- 1 shot interview
Grab an person, stick them in front of a camera and shot for 10 minutes. Interview editors, assistants. Oh, here is one i love. Get the partners of the 'talent' and interview them about what it is like living with... Patrick Norton's wife would be a good first choice (I know she has a new baby but how techies juggle this stuff is important).

I know it's easy to throw fruit from the cheap seats, but i still bought a ticket.

I think they could've set up a time-lapse camera filming the building of the new studios and used that for an episode with generic background music and it would've at least been an acceptable episode...this was...I'm at a loss. At least if it was Sarah lip syncing, it would've seemed remotely related...but the only connection I can see are the credits at the end mentioning David Prager and partial copyright fro Revision 3.

I thought the Gazette was supposed to be a 'behind the scenes' show...not a sketch/skit show. I'm rather glad it's free now.

You forget, sir, about artistic integrity. If they did lose passion for it when it went free, as you claim, then they should stop producing the shows. I would take no show verse the episodes that have been recently released. If a relationship is dying (as with the viewer and producers) then it should be killed off quickly, not strung out. Even if they said no shows for 3 months until we can set up the infrastucture to support this regularly then i beleive the backlash would not be so great.

You blame us, that's your opinion, but I buy the shirts, use the promo codes and subscribe to the podcasts through the feeds that gets them advert dollars. I feel bad bashing on Rev3 because I love Rev3. but...

Seriously there is a thread called "what I would like to see next Episode" The fans constantly asking for behind the scenes content. Which shouldn't be hard to do, The Gazette in our eyes (the fans) was supposed to be an eye into behind the scenes of Rev3. We aren't asking for anything fancy, Nothing rehearsed (fruit club).. To date I personally think the best episode was Ep 4. You had a party with the Digg folks it gave (at least me) some true insight to the environment that Rev3 has.

We know everyone at Rev3 is busy, but busy is a good thing. I'm happy that you are all keeping busy. You created the blog so you could keep us all up to date on whats going on at Rev3. I'm not saying you have to spoil shows that are coming up, I'm anxiously awaiting Martin's new show. But for the past 3 weeks the gazette has constantly pulled a no call no show. I'm just suggesting that if your not going to put out a show for a week, take 10mins and let us know, We are understanding. If you had jumped on the blog last week and wrote a quick little reason we'd be understanding. We know you are all busy, but now creating this instead of the creating your usual program with no written rhyme or reason, you have now put the fans against you. Which i'm sure nobody here wants to do, but now you have everyone second guessing the show, is it about behind the scenes or funny senseless skits. I don't want to bash you, but you should have learned from Fruit Club what the fans want to see. We don't want to see the Gazette go bye bye. VC Baby. it was funny, the song was good & Justine is very sexy looking. But what created all this hostility was that it over took a show we've been waiting a month 2 watch. If you would have put Vc Baby out as a separate clip on it's own, just saying "A Little Christmas treat from Rev3" You'd probably have 10 thread about how Hot Justine is by now. You would have lost all the Hostility that is in here. People wouldn't complain because it was a bonus, everybody likes bonuses. And it wouldn't have messed with any shows. It sucks that for all the people that worked on VC baby because now you put it under R3G, and it will have a bad rep like Fruit Club, which isn't fair.

They have been not been able to release a new Gazette so they release this thinking some of their viewers would like it. Which some of us did enjoy it and all of you guys start *****ing that you are not getting enough free content and all you people talking about it wasting your time have you never learned how to fast forward?
Yes this is not really what people say they want from the Gazette but they have 10 shows that they release regularly I think you can all shut up with one bad episode occasionally with out flipping out on the people that give you all this free content also the Gazette does not have advertising in it so each episode they release is costing them money.

Ryudo already did a good job of responding to this post but allow me to reiterate. Revision3 is a business, the goal is to make money. True R3G does not have advertisements but it is offered to keep the viewers happy (which it's failing to do though) which makes you stick around and make Revision3 your number one source for online media.

Secondly Revision3 is blatantly lying when they say R3G is behind the scenes. When a television network can not put out there show on time they tell you it will return in x amount of days/weeks they don't put an unrelated piece of nothing on and say it's the same thing! It is insulting to think Revision3 thinks we will just accept whatever they give us.

Thirdly some of us "donate" to Revision3, that means we pay for every show (remember the donation says it's for Revision3 not just Diggnation)

This coming from someone who has been a paying customer since day one that they started accepting donations. I dont know how to say it more plainly than 'chill the **** out'. And you're correct, they have every right to continue to put out garbage like this, and we have a right to complain to them about it. Okay, I admit I can be a little slow sometimes so let me see if I get this straight. Sarah had time to do her Time Lapse Thingy on her own website, but couldn't find the time to do something for the Gazette.

The Time Lapse Thingy (as it shall be known from here on out) was a behind the scenes look at Sarah at work. The forums are ablaze with fans stating that they want to see more behind the scenes of Sarah at work as well as the Revision3 staff. The Time Lapse Thingy had staff members walking around in the background.

SO WHY NOT JUST AIR THE TIME LAPSE THINGY?

No one at R3 had time to put together a decent Gazette, yet they had time to put together the VC Baby video. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the VC video was well done with appropriate lighting, acting, audio and camera work. Sarah usually just walks around the R3 studios and records whatever the hell she wants without worrying about getting the best shots or the best lighting.

Am I the only one confused around here?

I understand it’s the holiday season and the studios are being built, but that’s no excuse for producing poor videos. Especially when a lot more work went into VC Baby then Sarah puts into the Gazette. Yet, there wasn’t time for a decent behind the scenes Gazette so they took the time to put together VC Baby. Even though fans are constantly typing on the forums to not do stuff like this and do behind the scenes of Revision3.

I still don’t get it.

Also, this was shown at the end of the most recent GigaOm show. After realizing that I feel like if they had just kept it there and not put it up separately things would be much quieter around here.

Yeah, the GigaOm Show is all about the web 2.0 & financial space, and VC Baby was a "surprise" for the viewers of it. I thought it was great, but obviously in the contexts of the R3G, it wasn't very well received.

Except, if the issue witht he gazette being a member bonus in the beginning taught us anything, it's griping is the only way to get their attention...and if you don't complain often, they'll jsut ignore it.
