So Dan and I still haven't nailed down the full details for the Geekdrome BBQ but we're meeting about it tomorrow.

It's November 18th and right now I'm leaning towards a really nice section of Griffith Park in L.A. where there are some grills, a nice field and they shot the end scene in Police Academy 2: Citizens on Patrol (which may be reason enough to do it there).

But let us know who is coming and what you guys would be looking to eat or possibly bring.

We don't have the money for a park liquor permit so we may have to go on the sneak tip there. And besides, when has liquor been a part of The Drome? Well... unless we invite the dude from that movie website who bent my copy of New Avengers: The Illuminatti in episode 17... drunkard.

I'm very likely coming. Driving down alone, most likely. (My girlfriend would like to attend, but probably won't be able to since she's usually a mommy on the weekend. ) Since I'm driving, I'm more inclined to offer money so someone else can bring something, instead of me lugging it down.

I will try to be there for at least a bit of the begining, but it is quite impossible for my sister to be there. She lives in Seattle, so unless Funnelfish does get a plane ticket and wants to fold her up in his carry on bag, she will not be able to get down here.

I think there are some major transportation issues here for the L.A. based people. How do you usually get around without transportation? Just apply those principles to getting to the freakin' park people!!

As for the out of towners, I salute you in your every attempt to get to the party. You are the truly devoted!! :)

I went online to find a route to take the bus to Griffith Park but alas... They don't in those part of the woods. :-(

My offer is still open. Anyone in Pasadena? I'll pay for Gas and some snacks.

Yeah. I was looking at tickets yesterday. From SeaTac the cheapest was $230 with a stop in Portland. Plus I didn't even look in on a hotel and car. I wish I could justify spending that much for a weekend frolic... it would be awesome!

Well, I looked on greyhound at how much it might cost for me to get to the LA area from Chicago. If I get the 7 day advance roundtrip tickets....it would be roughly around $220. If I take a plane...around #345 through expedia. Man...this totally sucks. :mad: So expensive.

If I could get to the LA area, would anyone be interested in housing a fellow dromie? We'll see how I'm sitting financially.

Taking Amtrak is far cheaper and takes about the same time in the end as flying. You've got to get to the airport two hours early, probably have a layover in Vegas, etc.. If I can make it, this is how I will go. I'm not that far from you.

Despite loving a good steak (hmmm - Prime Rib, slow smoked, then seared medium rare) I also enjoy vegetarian food, but Boca Burgers are trying too hard to be a "real" hamburger that their taste is kinda off. Give me a GardenBurger any day over a Boca - no pretending there.

If you are vegan, and want to try something different as a "burger" - try Alton Brown's "Split Pea Burger (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_30859,00.html?rsrc=search)". It really is Good Eats.

Little Known Fact: Griffith Park is the largest inner-city park in the United States (sorry New Yorkers!).

I don't want people to get lost. The directions are simple but the park is bigger than it looks with a few back roads you can get lost on.
