I looked around for a thread about this couldn't find anything so if there is one just close this I guess.

INFO
http://www.diggnationbeerclub.com/
Beer's delivered during the 3rd and 4th week of the months.
$31.95 a month.

December Beers :

ALE -- Nutfield's Old Man Ale
STOUT -- Nutfield's Black 47 Stout
PORTER -- Atwater's Vanilla Java Porter

What does everything think of this month's selection ? I just got my shipment in about an hour ago and I'm still at work. Can't drink on the job :P

Edit: If anyone has anything they think I should add in the top post let me know. I'm all ears.

Is that list of beers anywhere official that gets updated? Being not in the US, I would like to try some of the beers but obviously I can't sign up to the beer club.

Yes, those are the official beers that came in this months shipment.

If you'd read my badly worded question properly :P I was asking if there was an official source for the information above that was updated on a monthly basis.

Well I can't find anything on the Clubs of America web page. I'd be willing to keep this updated if more people show an interest.

I can honestly say that the beers in Decembers beer club shipment were some of the worst beers i have ever tried. I had to force myself to finish it.

The Ale and Stout were kind of weak in my opinion. The coffee porter was a gem. I'm going to order a case of it. The IPA is just .. can't think of a word to describe it other than wrong.

What's the deal with not drinking on Diggnation. Is this a joke?

I'm curious? What was wrong about it. Did you just not like the flavor of the IPA. Or was the IPA flawed in some way. Was the beer not flawed, but not a proper IPA?

Most of the beer sold as IPA is really just hoppy Pale Ale. I call it "Impostor Pale Ale." A proper IPA is nearly undrinkable to most people.

One of my pet-peeves is this:

It's okay to say your don't like a particular beer. Beer taste are subjective and drinking beer should be about enjoyment. There is no reason to drink beer that your don't enjoy.

That being said, It is possible to find a beer with no flaws, that is a perfect representation of a particular style.... and have people hate it. yet, it is still a great beer.

Suppose you hate strawberries and order strawberry ice cream. You end up hating it and retching...but it's not because the ice cream is bad.

Beer has thousands of flavors, it's understandable when you find some that you don't like. But, don't dismiss the beer.

Of course, the beer could honestly be bad...craft beer doesn't travel very well and the idea of shipping-craft beer by mail is never going to be as good as enjoying it at the source.

It could also be a bad beer because the formulation sucks. This happens too.

Also, in what manner were the Stout and Porter weak? Dry stout and London style porter are not strong beers.

I didn't like the flavor of the IPA. It had a really bitter aftertaste that really didn't sit right with me. I describe the Old Man Ale and Stout as being weak because imo it didn't have that strong of a taste or flavor.

They're taking a month off but if you subscribed to the club you still got some beers. I haven't updated the list sorry. Will do soon !

I didn't like the flavor of the IPA. It had a really bitter aftertaste that really didn't sit right with me.

Hop flavor is medium to high, with a moderate to assertive hop bitterness. The hop flavor should be similar to the aroma (floral, earthy, fruity, and/or slightly grassy). Malt flavor should be medium-low to medium-high, but should be noticeable, pleasant, and support the hop aspect. The malt should show an English character and be somewhat bready, biscuit-like, toasty, toffee-like and/or caramelly. Despite the substantial hop character typical of these beers, sufficient malt flavor, body and complexity to support the hops will provide the best balance. Very low levels of diacetyl are acceptable, and fruitiness from the fermentation or hops adds to the overall complexity. Finish is medium to dry, and bitterness may linger into the aftertaste but should not be harsh. If high sulfate water is used, a distinctively minerally, dry finish, some sulfur flavor, and a lingering bitterness are usually present. Some clean alcohol flavor can be noted in stronger versions. Oak is inappropriate in this style.

I describe the Old Man Ale and Stout as being weak because imo it didn't have that strong of a taste or flavor.

I see, I'll remember to avoid it then.

I know I gave bad reviews. Not that the beer was bad that the ACTUAL review was short and not really worth anything. I usually try to hold off because beer like movies, video games and a few other things I believe are really kind of dependent on personal taste. I'd much rather have someone form their own opinion without the influence.

It leads to much better discussion instead of

"I didn't like it."
"I didn't like it either."

Can't see the point of paying $32 for only 12 beers that may or may not be any good. What a gyp. Even if there is a great beer in the collection, you get 3 of them. Maybe there are 2 good beers in the box, so you get 6 good beers for a month .... . lame.

Couple that with the fact that beer doesn't travel very well... especially craft beers.

I guess they don't belong here, but not sure where and I wouldn't mind seeing them, they are all cool so far. But don't break your back doing it for me, I'm about to log off for lunch and vid games. But I'll come back later (read:'sometime') and tell you about how I made Costas Mandylor cry last week with a massage, so to speak. I took him by surprise cracking into a spasm he had in his back with my knuckles and he had an emotional release crying and sobbing for a few minutes. Weird huh.

Actually, I consider artwork posted by the artist to be exempt from some spam rules. As long as it is posted in a non-spammy fashion, I would allow it. This includes all kinds of artwork with th exception of amateur web design, art of authoring submissions to Digg or anything else spammish.

thanks, mash. when it was a website I was concious of not spamming it here. even though viewing it was not money related back then. Just a hobby we wanted to share with enthusiasts. no doubt wouldn't hurt paying for bandwidth with sponcors,, whatever. but that never happened any way :)

I was going to join but decided not to. Usually I've just been trying to find their beers whenever I'm at the store.

The beerclub was an outrageous ripoff. You pay about 4 times what you should, hopefully it has stopped.

Actually, $2-3 for a bottle of craft beer isn't bad. Expensive for Bud/Miller/Coors, but you would have to pay me to drink that crap. Does anyone know if the guys are still going to drink the sponsored beer on the show? I only joined it because it was cool getting their impressions. If not, then I can get craft beers locally (albeit at a similar price).

Pay a visit to your local Bevvy. A regional craft beer six-pack runs about 8-bucks. The imported Belgian stuff is much more expensive.
