I love the character actors that are "That Guy" (or girl).
How obscure are we talking? Many of the "That Guy"s I grew to love are pretty recognizable.
James Remar (The Quest)
Carey-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Rising Sun)
TomKat's cousin William Mapother (MI:2)
A Cameron favorite Jenette Goldstein (Aliens, T2, Titanic)
My favorites:
Will Patton (Remember the Titans, Armageddon)
William Fichtner (Go)

You're talking about the "Character Actor." They're basically actors that play certain types. They're cast not as actors but as those types. Many of the best character actors become full-fledged stars. Others are always recognized as "They guy from that movie."
My favorite has got to be Chris Cooper.

I always wondered that myself. I think he was mainly a stunt man and kinda fell into acting (if you can call it that...I dont think he has said more than 2 words in a movie.) Do stuntmen get paid good bank?

Please tell me you've talked to Jon about this.
We went to high school with that kid (he graduated in '96 with my sister and one year ahead of Jon). He ruined Spiderman for me. You should totally watch Old School with the commentary on and skip to the scene with all the characters in the diner. The director and stars talk specifically about Jesse and point out how his weird facial ticks made editing a lot more difficult than it should have done. There's one point where he seemingly smells his glass of water and makes a face like it was a dead body. It's funny stuff.

That is insane! The reason I became aware of him is because of his out of whack faces. That and he always seemed so... sweaty. Is he any good? From the limited talking roles he has had it doesn't seem so. But still... he got to have naked chicks on him in Rules of Attraction. (And we have the same birthday... a few years apart)

If by good you mean "he found out a way to get paid for being weird" then he's great. There is no acting whatsoever in what you see on screen.

He was a senior when I was a freshman and he hung around with the kids in my grade who got beat up regularly. We all seriously thought he was retarded.

"That Guy From That Movie!" could make a hilarious sitcom about some two-bit actor always shown up by his older brother who isn't in films, but does something nerdy, yet everyone recognizes the brother by name and "that guy" only as "that guy from that movie."
