Every digger has read this line, posted by someone in the comments of a story, because someone comes on with an opinion without doing one thing...
RTFA!!!
With that said...
Please Oh god, atleast read the articles you are going to talk about on the show.
It's fine and fun when you explain it to each other because they never read the story, but you should know what you are talking about.
Case in point "The sea under Asia" story this episode.
Anyways I piss myself laughing about the banter that goes on in every show, keep up the good work.

I do agree, I think the ocean under Asia story could have been better researched, but I think the whole point of the show is getting to watch them go back and forth talking about the story.
I think if they read the stories in advance we'd lose the shock factor - getting to see their first impressions - which I like most about Diggnation. It also makes for longer episodes, which means spending less time in the real world...

I see where you're coming from, but sometimes they read a story, and others they don't. Obviously they don't seclude themselves from the internet so they know about stuff without reading it on Digg. I just think (for sake of this debate) Kevin should of atleast read some of the story beforehand OR read some of the comments on the article to know that the topic heading was obviously misleading. So near the end when he finally read some of it, he found it was actually just rock WITH water in it. That's why Alex was like "Water embedded with water" or something to that nature.
Anyways I agree the banter is entertaining and if they ever turn it into a daily live show in the future (which probably will never happen) I hope it goes national on t.v. so we have something worth watching.

I'm not so sure.
I mean, The 'banter' is hilarious when you see them trying to work out what the hell is going on. All this kind of awkward 'umming' and 'errring'. It makes for a really relaxed feel, Makes it like they are just your buddies trying to tell you about some cool shit they found. It's all good.
Also, You can't really treat diggnation as your source for news. If you really want to know about a particular topic, You go to digg and find it. As much as I love the guys, I wouldn't take anything they say to be the truth. Haha.

That makes sense, which is why they do a lot of the person presenting the story should have read it while the other didn't even look at it. Seems though that for some stories, neither have read it.

Yeah, ideally the person reading the story on the show should have already read it beforehand, but you're right...they both tend to skip an article here and there, which isn't all that interesting to watch.

It is truly amazing that they have much of a personal life at all.
More importantly, they have people that they have to work with, i.e., sponsors, obligations, etc, and ride a fine line most of the time. You'll see them seem to 'hold-back' when they are really, really, really, wanting to just spout off... I mean, what would really be cool, and this is just me, is to see what DIDN'T make it into the broadcast. Y'know, like a special sneak channel of all the 'out-takes'. Sorta' like the 'dudefest' where they edited together all 'dude' comments. I'm certain that there is probably a [explitive deleted] [bleepidy] [bleep] [bleep]fest out there for us whenever they get around to it.
Oh, and by the way, Happy New Year! 2008 is gonna' be gr8!

both sides of the argument here have a point, and here's how to draw the line:
I always figured both hosts on diggnation brought their on stories 'with them', meaning they both chose wichever most dugg stories they felt like talking about, and then laid out a 'script' for the show. Usually this seemed to work out quit nicely, as one guest would bring up a story while the other one sort of just found out about it. Hence the 'live' feel would come out of that.
But when both hosts don't have a clue what their talking about, that's when things start to feel dodgy, low level, plain bad. Kevin & Alex, you're both working wonders for two guys sitting on a couch, drinkin' brews with their laptops... but at least have the decency of getting at least one of you, even if its Prager, to research things a bit so that someone has something to say about it, if the case turns out you have no opinion on the matter, as was the case with the underground ocean thing.
I'm sure you guys are busy, but realize that Diggnation is your bread and butter, and really no one at revision3 can *afford* to forget that. I also could have made a similar statement about Systm, however their MAME MONTH pretty much saved their ass for a couple months or so..
That said, I still enjoy your work, have just recently signed up to be a paid member, just received my digg hoodie from jinx, just patched my brand new laptop with a digg sticker, so guys, keep up the good work :)))) .. (oh and thebroken #5 would be neat but it's okay, everybody knows why that'll never happen - just keep it that way, it should hit cult status within a year or two ;p)
I'll add this: it's a already a bargain for me to pay just 5 bucks a month to get that kind of online programming: if you guys don't feel like releasing a show on a particular week because of an overly busy schedule, or no good stories to talk about, if your sponsors allow it, just skip it ! It'll just make the next one better.
.. wow was that really my first post on the rev3 forums ? ....
