Is anyone here running Linux on their PS3? I want to stream real audio to my ps3 and it looks like the only way of doing it is via linux. how hard was it? It looks dead simple, but is it?
I found this site of instructions:
http://ps3.qj.net/PS3-Linux-The-void-has-been-filled-Full-install-instructions-for-Fedora-Core-5-/pg/49/aid/73144
Is there a better site?

I didn't do a harddrive install, as i got a 40 gig (i've already got a ps2) so harddrive space is more precious till i buy a new drive. I did however do a live Cd, which was very painless. Gentoo has one that works very well, i think there was an ubuntu/debian liveCD as well. You may want to check out those live CDs before wasting the harddrive space if all you want is to stream audio, if the CD has what you need it'd be the way to go. *Also don't forget you can use a USB flashdrive in joint with the live Cd and keep any binaries of applications you need on there.
Just google for Linux ps3 Live Cd, you are bound to find a few.

I havent done it yet, but the article i was gonna use is http://news.softpedia.com/news/Ubuntu-7-10-on-PS3-73272.shtml
Ubuntu just seems to the most used distro and i would think that doc/video/info for this distro would be the most plentiful since it will have the largest community behind it.

Redhat is good too though of course.

How big an install is this? I have a 60 gig PS3 and I think I've used maybe 10 gigs tops right now.

That's more than enough room for a Ubuntu install.
