Did you forget World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade came out this year? You could have given that GOTY.

Alex mentioned it in his "Top 5". But, as an ex-WoW addict - Burning Crusade was only monumental if you were a casual player. If you were in it hardcore to see everything the end-game had to offer, it was pretty poor compared to WoW vanilla.
Although, I will say, leveling up from 60-70 in Outlands was probably the most fun I had solo in WoW in the 3 years I played.

Ah aha. No.
Don't get me wrong, I'm on WoW every day. But game of the year? Especially THIS year? No goddamn way.
WoW is the game I play after other, better, games have ended.
Also, its an expansion, not a patch.

I'm not the one saying it's GOTY or a patch it was on the Totally Rad show.

I'm not a big gamer, but since Alex plays the game as much as he does, I'd say making it his #5 game of the year is a fair enough choice. It's like Jeff listing the Shield as one of his top five tv shows.
I was glad that Alex also singled out Portal from the rest of the Orange Box on his list, since that was the only game that interested me enough to actually buy it solo, and I was VERY pleased with it.

No way. As popular as the game is this shouldn't even be mentioned. For one the game mechanic itself is not new obviously and two besides extra content how innovative was it really?
some XBLA games deserve more credit than this.

i do not think and MMO will ever get game of the year, and because of that particular genre is assumed it will be played alot for those that do play it.

GoTY? naww...
It's not a game in itself. It's an add-on. You have to have WoW to start with and even then you really don't get anything out of it (ok a couple races, but...come on) until you are lvl 60.
If there is a game of the decade, WoW as a whole, patches, add-ons, ect. will be a strong contender.
