Internet TV Leader Revision3 Announces Record Year

Pioneering Network Delivers Over 100 Million Clips in 2007, Establishing Leadership Position in Internet TV Market Announces New Partners and Advertisers
By BusinessWire

SAN FRANCISCO, BUSINESS WIRE -- Revision3, the TV Network for the Internet generation, today announced it has achieved significant growth and major milestones in the year 2007. Among these achievements is a substantial increase in viewership numbers. The network delivered a total of 11 million shows and over 46 million clips in the fourth-quarter reflecting a 440% percent increase from the first-quarter of the year. For the full year Revision3 delivered a total of more than 25 million shows, and over 103 million clips.

In 2007, a variety of leading consumer product companies, including Ask.com, Sony, Virgin America, Warner Brothers Entertainment, GoDaddy.com, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Netflix, Intel and SanDisk, signed advertising contracts with Revision3 based on the network's ability to successfully influence the difficult-to-reach 18-34 year old demographic.

"At Virgin America we're known for going the extra mile in the services that are meaningful to a forward-thinking, discriminating market," said Porter Gale, Vice President of Marketing at Virgin America. "One of our key targets is the young, intelligent, tech-savvy consumer. Revision3 delivers this market better than anyone else. They've far exceeded the results that we'd anticipated. Revision3's ability to integrate our promotional message into their programming successfully generates consumer response to our promotions and drives seat sales. Advertising with Revision3 is a very important element to our web 2.0 marketing mix."

At Revision3, sponsors are integrated into the network's original hit shows, which include Diggnation, The Totally Rad Show, Web Drifter, and Tekzilla. As a result, sponsors enjoy a unique and highly effective bond with the network's pop culture savvy fan base.

"Our programming delivers an unprecedented 100% unaided sponsor recall, and 4 out of every 10 viewers have purchased product or services from our sponsors," said Brad Murphy, Vice President of Advertising Sales at Revision3. "That's a phenomenal return on their investment. Not only is it incredibly difficult to reach 18-34 year olds, it's even harder to spur them to action. At Revision3 we've delivered quantifiable results derived from our ability to successfully reach this passionate audience. And we do it better than traditional TV and other Internet shows."

Revision3 also wrapped up the year by expanding its worldwide availability by finalizing strategic partnerships with leading digital content distributors including Adobe, ADNStream.TV, CNET and mobile distributor Transpera.

"It's all about getting our great content in front of as many people as possible," said Jim Louderback, CEO at Revision3. "We want to be anywhere and everywhere our users hang out, including on mobile devices, big-screen TVs, and Internet-based destinations. We're excited to add these new partners to our industry-leading group of partners, which include DivX, Bittorrent, Vuze and iTunes. As a matter of fact, in addition to being one of the top content providers on iTunes, an unprecedented five of our shows were included on iTunes' 'Best of 2007 Podcasts' lists."

The network's technology shows deliver strong and actionable information about exploring, enjoying and understanding everything from the iPhone to how to convert a standard car into a hybrid. Revision3's modern culture shows provide hard-hitting reviews and insightful commentary on everything from weird websites to comic books, movies and video games. The network's music shows take viewers behind the scenes with the latest indie bands, exploring emerging artists and showcasing alternative musical events. Revision3's mid to long form original shows typically run between ten minutes to an hour in length, with segments lasting between one and five minutes. New episodes debut every week, new segments debut daily.

This is what I posted on Jay's blog (http://blog.adelson.org/2008/01/revision3-annou.html#comment-95754856) about the subject.

It's true, Jay, since the beginning of the writer's strike, I have switched into full internet video proselytization mode! I'll tell you what, though. I'd love to see the word "internet" dropped from "internet video." Internet shouldn't be a buzzword anymore. It should just be an accepted means of delivery.

I think what really needs to happen for people to make the jump or develop those set top boxes is for content producers to step up and really take on the big broadcasters. Compete where it matters. Podcasting seems to be a big talk show circuit still... where's Rev3's sitcom? Let's see some dramatic podcasts! You've got a set now... let's just hope it's not a talk show set? ;)

Rev3 is in prime position to do this before everyone else catches on... you've got some of the most popular podcasts out there with an established fan base. You've got your name in the news. You've got a set. You've got money. Seems all you need to do is get some writers and hire a few actors. Take the fight to NBC and put an end to Must See TV!

Some of my dreams...

I'm in the exact same position as kowgod. It's time we drop the "internet" from "internet video" and get some competitive programming from Rev3. I don't see how that's currently possible, but I'm sure they're already working on getting a sitcom for the network. Something along the lines of

("The Big Bang Theory" + "Friends")
-----------------------------
"The Office"

Would fit in nicely. I can't stand reality television, but I wouldn't mind a reality show or spoof show based on the premise of Rev3, or the making of a popular podcast.

WAIT, the making of a popular podcast could fit nicely for a sitcom storyline. You've already got the week-by-week longevity of a show working for you, + tons and tons of content to pull from for ideas already. This will work, someone get on it.

Hell, with the go-ahead to interview all the talent from Rev3, and my non-affiliation with the WGA, you could sign me up and get the ball rolling!

hey, we first have to get out from under the "video podcast" moniker.

But yeah, you're right. It's all just shows.

That's what we really are!

anyway, thanks for being part of it!

Do revision 3 have any ideas of advertising in the UK? It would be neat if UK watchers like myself could contribute something to keep it rolling. Maybe revision 3 could team up with amazon.co.uk, play.com and a few other fast and easy e-tailers. I know it could be hard mentioning it at the end of a show for each european country, maybe you could film the show, and the end of it have a small segment for Europe / UK downloaders. I surely can't be the only one who watches all the revisions 3 shows there are enough UK geeks too. I am sure some research could yield revision 3 a small amount of revenue.

I don't see you guys getting out from under the stigma of "podcast" without more bigger name sponsors. Godaddy I'm sure really helps pay the bills but almost every podcast out there is sponsored by them and it becomes less effective when you see the same ad over and over. Where are the Coke, Pepsi, and Sears ads? Seriously somebody needs to be going after these guys to sponsor some shows. Revision3 isn't a website that puts out podcasts, it's the future of content producing where the rest of the world will soon start to follow.
