My Prediction: 52 Universes only around for Final Crisis!

First off, I hope that hasn't been discussed to death somewhere else around here, but if I'll apologize for my laziness not to perform a thorough search in the forums.

So, when the whole 52 thing started I made a prediction in my local shop that the 52 earths will only be around for one story and that one Story is Final Crisis (Nobody believed me at that point). Despite the fact that Didio told us that it'll get us great stories, I said it's only for this one. And I feel more and more confident about it.
I mean, look at the state of the Multiverse right now: Prime rampages through the universes to find his "perfect" earth, Monarchs kicks ass, destroys cities and kills whoever he wants to.
When Countdown is over, there is just not much left!
Which is not a bad thing, because I thing it's fun and we get a fairly good story out of it (well, at least for the last couple of weeks...).

The only question that remains for me is whether they go back to a singular earth after that (booh!) or if they'll start from scratch to create a coherent (gasp) multiverse with infinite possibilities (yeah). That would be my favorite scenario anyway...

What do you guys think about that? Any opinions?

No, I've been saying that for a while now. The only reason these Universes were brought back were to have something to tear down again in FINAL CRISIS. Basically since INFINITE CRISIS, DC has seen that a bunch of tie-ins and a weekly series can and will sell no matter how much of them you produce, so basically they've gone full on balls to the wall producing these things with the promised "payoff" that FINAL CRISIS will be the event everyone expected INFINITE to be and ended up being varying degrees of disappointed in.

And then they'll follow it up with another weekly book. Honestly, in my mind it actually reads like a business plan because it's obvious that's what it is...

Yeah, the 52 Universes are going to be short lived, but we've gotten some good stories out of it (and some horrid ones)

I think you are on to something with this. The whole weekly DC thing wore off its luster for me around week 6 of the original 52. Just wasn't interesting enough. It sucks because I recently saw a 52 recap, and I think there were some interesting moments and story beats that looked cool.
