Jeeze. was looking for food tonight, checked out Subway for my first time ever. Ordered a couple subs. One small hot one for tonight, one large cold one for lunch/dinner tomorrow.

And Now I know why Jared got thin. They don't put jack shit on them. It's really just a meat-flavored roll. What a waste of money.

The trouble with Subway is that It's not a very well regulated franchise. Sandwiches can very pretty widely location-to-location. I find that the local deli makes better subs anyway.

i've never had a problem with them. the roast chicken breast on honey oat with all the fixin's is my favorite.

I'm never going back. The only reason I went there was cause my usual joint. (Much better subs) won't deliver to my hood anymore cause of "incidents"

I've been a few times for cold cut subs. They're pretty good, because there's really not a lot of ways to screw that up. Last time I went I decided to mix it up though. Ordered a Buffalo Chicken sandwich. Little bit of chicken on a bun with some cold buffalo sauce from a squeeze bottle squirted onto it. Turned me off. Also, the guy ahead of me in line asked for ketchup on his sub. "Subway doesn't carry ketchup". It may be a strange request, but if you want to boast great selection, why not have the most widely used condiment around?

I can't say that I have really ever been impressed with any sub place. If you watch subway, it can potentially turn out ok, but it really depends on where you are I think. I really think that alot of people figure that screwing everyone a little bit adds up to big money in savings at the end of the year. Pretty much that makes me not go back. So I usually don't. I think that speaks loud enough for me.

I like Quiznos better (or as we called it back at the store near I worked "Fuq knows" ... because they always screwed up the order ... "What did you get for lunch today?" "Fuq knows").

Unfortunately, we onyl have a subway across the street - but apart from the language problem, they are OK.

Footlong meatball, toasted, with tomatoe, banana peppers (a little), and a little ranch. Pretty good.

Their steak and chicken hot subs are kinda blah, but the cold cut ones aren't too bad.

As Masher said, its not a particularly well regulated chain, so quality is hit and miss. The one across the stret is average, but one near where I used to live was pretty good. The subs even looked like the pictures. Vietnamese family ran it, and the nail salon next door :)

We're used to fast-food franchises being particularly uniform. But, this is just the legacy of Ray Crock and Colonial Sanders. Much to their credit, they realized that people visited fast food because of the consistencies. That is, one Subway restaurant that makes lousy subs is going to turn you off to them all. Jarad and his aids aside, Subway is never going to be the epicurean delight that is promise by the advertising. Minimum wagers slapping meat and cheese a roll is never going to be a gourmet experience. Occasionally, you kind a shop that is staffed by people who really love to build a nice subs though.

Couldn't have put it better...But.....Taco Bell FTW, its hard to mess up taco bell. If nothing else, pile on ten packets of the hot sauces.

One near my house is pretty good but one place I used to go to which had cheaper prices and MUCH BIGGER and tastier sandwiches was called Blimpie but none are close to my home and not been in years.

I've been to some where the food just tastes bad and, as you say, they're skimpy. At the one near where I work, they put on two pickles if you ask for pickles, one more if you want extra pickles.

But the one near where I live (thankfully, it's still my local one post-move) is very good about giving you what you want.

My usual: tuna on wheat or white, depending on my mood, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, extra pickles, onions, avocado, spicy mustard, and pepper.

Yeah, avocado on tuna. It actually works!!

Maybe a California thing? I have never seen avocado available on the East Coast subways.

That's possible. Avocado really is available on almost everything out here.

Tuna, swiss, and avocado was awesome. Their tuna and swiss (toasted) is pretty good too.

Ah nice...Not a fan of raw avocado. I eat it but wouldn't die without it. But a HUGE fan of guacamole...Who isn't really?

I love Subway. During my lunch break it is usually Chinese Buffet or Subway. I almost always got a 12-inch meatball sub and after that I was able to walk in and say "gimme the usual". LOL, I thought that was so cool. :D

Ha ha ha, yeah. I would say "the usual" and as they went down the cheeses I would just nod my head and it would be done. :D

This is the sandwhich I would get nearly every day except I got all the shredded and grated cheeses on it as well.

Subway definitely varies wildly from place to place. They're hellbent on expanding right now (at least in the East), so the barrier to entry to get a franchise has been relatively low for the past few years.

The lack of yellow American cheese is a dealbreaker for me though. I usually hit up a local place or Blimpie if available.

I'm not a big fan of subway, but they are cheap if you get whatever their sub of the day is.

I can't stand yellow cheese. I wonder when color became a factor?
