Have you ever had a damn song stuck in your head? I don't know how or why, but for some reason I have that Kinks song: "Lola" stuck in my damn head. I don't even know where I heard it. In fact, I had to look up the lyrics on google because I didn't even know who sang it. I kept going:
"LO-LO-LO-LO-LOLA!" in my head over and over.
Does this ever happen to anyone else? OR AM I JUST CRAZY MANG! :D
my guess is it happens to many if not most people
songs are 'designed' to do that (either consciously or sub / unconsciously by the songwriter)
Songs can have an effect like no other art form. Great lyricists put in the heart and soul, and master interpreters add the flesh and blood, forging the combination of words and music that makes up the magic of songcraft.

Great. Now I got it stuck in my head too. But I'm a geek so I'm singing Yoda instead:
I met him in a swamp down in Dagobah
Where it bubbles all the time
like a giant carbonated soda,
S O D A, soda
I saw the little runt sitting there on a log
I asked him his name
and in a raspy voice he said Yoda
Y O D A, Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
We'll, I've been around but I ain't never seen
a guy the looks like a muppet
but he's wrinkled and green
Oh my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Now, I left home just a week before,
and I'd never ever been a Jedi before
but Obi-Wan he set me straight of course,
He said, "Go to Yoda and he'll show you the Force."
Now, I'm not the kind that'll argue with Ben
So it looks like I'm gonna start all over again
with my Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
So I used the force,
I picked up a box,
I lifted some rocks,
And I stood on my head,
But I won't forget what Yoda said, he said
"Luke, stay away from the darker side,
and if you start to go astray let the Force be you guide."
Oh my Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
He said, "I know Darth Vader's really got you annoyed,
But, you know if you kill him then you'll be unemployed"
Oh my Yoda,
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Well, I heard my friends really got in a mess
so it looks like I'll be leaving Yoda I guess
But I know that I'll be back some day
I'll be making these movies till I'm old and grey
The Long-term contract I hadda sign
means I'll be making these movies till the end of time
with my Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda

I love the Yoda version.
I have the theme music for "North and South" locked in my head at the moment. Its orchesteral, and reminiscent of "Gone with the Wind". I know why its stuck in my head too - we left the DVD runing at the menu while we cooked dinner last night without muting, so it was on loop.
Lyrics stuck in my head? Much harder ... but i get melodies all the time. "Dirty Creatures" by Splitz Enz are in my head at the moment.
The only cure for lyrics stuck in your head is some white noise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU).

For some reason the theme song from Sandford and Son is always in my head. Luckily I'm always whistling it at work so now it's stuck in the heads of all my co-workers too.

"if I only had a brain" from wizard of oz is on almost permanent loop when I'm at work. Thank god for podcasts/ipod. Usually cleans it out for a while.

OK. if you are older, here's an "earworm" for you:
"we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun, but the hills that we climbed, are just seasons out of time"

In perfect harmonyyyyyyyy ...."

Costas Mandylor just introduced me to Gary Moore stuff. I think one song is "Over the hills and far away" (not sure if that's the title but it's a hell of a good song) and the other is Parisian Sidewalks.
I have nightmares about songs in my head. I get stuff stuck in my head and I obsess about it for days and days until it's an outgoing message on my machine or turned into a full opera. If it's drum-related, I can get that out of the system pretty quickly by playing drums for a while, but if it's a piano melody, then I'm spending time in recording.
Right now I have a song by Clutch called Droid in there now but I'm going to listen to the Into The Wild soundtrack by Eddie Vedder this afternoon while I'm doing dishes.

I think "I'd like to give the world a coke, and keep it company,... something something, cus that's the song I sing"... That commercial used to make me think that ppl held candles and hung out in their town square singing at night during Christmas - as I child, I honestly didn't realise that was an ad for coke, I thought it was an ad for chirstmas cheer.
