Hi, it's Jim Louderback, CEO of Revision3. I'm emailing
you today to let you know about some changes in our membership
program, and big changes at Revision3.com

First, let me thank you for supporting Revision3.com through your
annual membership. Your generous support came in very handy as
Revision3 grew from one show to 10 last year. We couldn't have done
it without you.

However, we're changing the benefits of our annual membership program,
and we're putting our monthly paid membership program on hiatus at the
end of January. To begin with, we're going to end the early release
of Diggnation, making it available to everyone, members and
non-members, on Fridays at 7pm eastern.

Why are we doing this? One of our goals here at Revision3 is to
expose as many people as possible to our great programming. By making
sure that everyone can watch Diggnation as soon as it is released, we
know we will be welcoming many new viewers along with our existing
fans. We've been moving in this direction for many months, as we've
slowly decreased the time between the early and general release.

Don't worry, though, you're still special to us. As a way of thanking
you for your support, and as a special benefit for annual members,
we'd like to send you a unique gift - a custom limited edition
Diggnation T-shirt. This shirt will only be printed once, and will
only be sent to our current annual members. And as an extra bonus,
you can optionally have it signed personally by Kevin Rose.

We'll be rolling out new Revision3 member benefits in the coming
months, and you'll be the first to know about them. In addition,
we'll be tagging your user name on the Revision3 forum with a special
designation, indicating that you are part of a special group - A
Revision3 Founding Member.

I pay month-to-month and I got the same e-mail, except no t-shirt. So I guess the annual membership people get the t-shirt and anyone else that was contributing get to be a "Revision3 Founding Member."

There were two emails (at least) sent out, one for non-annual (annual is the keyword) and for regular paying members (like monthly or bi-yearly). The shirt email is for annuals (people who pay one time per year and have already been paying for a while). For those who were paying monthly or any otherway besides annually, you will get another email. The difference I have seen was the t-shirt for annual and both will get a forum tag of some sort. Im kinda writing this just to see if the forum tag is in place and what it is.

i was a yearly subscriber, 2 years and unsubscribed last october after the the september payment.

I never really downloaded early anymore., even though i watched everyweek.

i guess i have to live with the digg scull cap and baseball cap.

I find it funny to all of the people who seem sour about not getting anything. I mean, you weren't promised anything when you subscribed (Other than Diggnation early, which you got) so why should that make a difference now?

I can see if they said "once we stop memberships you will all get a shirt" and didn't deliver, sure I would be mad but they didn't say that.

Maybe it is just me, I may feel different if I was a subscriber. Although I did donate to the beer fund, WHERES MY T-SHIRT? :p

I don't want my other post to seem like I'm whining that I don't get a t-shirt. Of course, Rev3 can decide to whom it will or won't send anything; and I live in Canada, so it's unlikely I would've gotten one anyway. It was just shocking and a little upsetting to check my Hotmail (/pointlaugh "ha ha! u use hotmail!") and see two e-mails from this past week: the first confirming my monthly subscription sent to Rev3, and the second saying Rev3 has canceled my subscription. And then the reasons for rewarding yearly over monthly subscribers seemed a little 'iffy' to me. But anyway...

I thank and applaud whoever was in charge of this decision. I hope that it will bring more traffic and viewers to Rev3 so we can get even more great content (ie. more Ctrl+Alt+Chicken!!!).

And as soon as the monthly subscription is back, I'll be resubscribing. (Why not just subscribe yearly? Because I don't like that big chunk payment at the end of the year.)

Aww this is sad...If we literally just stopped our annual giving about two weeks ago and have been giving since literally the original site are we eligible? I guess not. I kind of feel jipped. No worries. I'll get over it. Would have been nice though for those other two years.

It's always disappointing when you miss out on free shit. I don't know anyone who wouldn't be a little down about missing a free t-shirt because they canceled their membership three days too early or because they donated monthly. I don't hear any entitlement here, just a title good hearted envy. It's not like Apple dropped the price of our iPhone 200 bucks 60 days after release....

I'd probably still donate if they'd let me, I feel strongly about paying for the content I enjoy and I don;t expect anything else in compensation. But, I'll never be a rich man...

The reason (i assume) they are offering the shirts to the annual members is that some of them may have just paid / not quite got their worths for the whole annual membership.

I do understand this, although my personal reaction is in line with that of many others, I have been a paying Revision3 member for quite a while (must be nearly or more than 2 years now?) and I guess I just chose the monthly option for no particular reason and I would just have soon as done 'yearly' so I guess that makes me feel a little 'left out' from the exclusive t-shirt club.

Oh well, it's not that big a deal!

The new website was launched briefly yesterday, but as the announcement section points out, it was taken down due to serious technical difficulties. Jim's email was assuming the site was going to be up and functional.

They are working really hard on resolving the issues. Once the new site is back up, you'll be able to register.

Not to sound too bitter. Ive been doing the monthly subscription for prob just over 2yrs pretty sure my monthly payment was $10 a month which means $120 a year which is much more than the annual prem of $50 someone stated earlier. Just seems like they are giving to the limited Kevin Rose signed cool guy t-shirt to the wrong ppl. They should really give it to everyone. I know I only subscribed to help rev3 out but if they are thinking of giving something back to the ppl that helped fund them they should give back to everyone not jst ppl who did the annual subscription. Make me feel under appresiated.

Simplicity stated:
You could pay $5/mo or $10/mo ... and get the same services.
Paying $10/mo was over-the-top dedication
assuming they understood their choices
..and simple math
I feel that Rev3 should stretch the branch
and offer love

for the $10/mo fans AS WELL AS THE yearly.

If you were an annual subscriber who's subscription got automatically canceled by Rev3, they would have sent you an email asking for your details. If you feel they missed you, you should probably send them an email, because as far as I know, the t-shirts have already been ordered and are in the process of being mailed.

Mine came through the regular mail and was left on my doorstep. I guess it all depends on how cautious your mailman is...

Nothing. You got your money's worth. The reason they did the shirt deal is because us yearly subscribers paid the $40 or $50 (I forget), but only got like $15 worth before they canceled the subscriptions. So they were nice and gave us free shirts to make up for it.
